Anastasia Tully knew that tomorrow was going to be an important day for the realm.Prince Daemon Targaryen, the Rogue Prince, was set to choose a new wife in the presence of his brother, King Viserys Targaryen. This came after the tragic death of Daemon's previous wife, who perished in a riding accident. Word had it that Daemon flew to the Vale to lay his wife to rest and stake his claim over the lands, castles, and incomes of House Royce—only to be denied by Lady Jeyne Arryn.
Anastasia thought Daemon a fool for even attempting it. If the rumors were true and he never cared for his wife, what made him think he could acquire everything that was hers?
King Viserys decided it was time for a new wife, one by Daemons choosing yet only if he chooses does that Viserys will present for him. It pissed off the Rogue Prince, nonetheless, he still agreed.
It couldn't get worse, the bronze bitch is dead — there will be someone better.
Anastasia's grandfather, Grover Tully, received a raven proposing his eldest granddaughter as a potential match for Prince Daemon. He wholeheartedly agreed and demanded Anastasia to be present.
Better look prettier than everyone else, this is a big opportunity for us!
Even though Lord Edmyn Tully had served as Hand of the King to Aegon the Conqueror and Lord Prentys Tully had served King Jaehaerys as Master of Laws, while Lady Lucinda Tully managed Queen Alysanne's household, there had never been a betrothal between a Tully and a Targaryen.
Yet, Anastasia wasn't nervous at all. A part of her seemed to know that Prince Daemon wouldn't choose her. Perhaps he would seek someone who resembled him more, as Targaryens so often married within their own bloodline.
Anastasia was a kind-hearted young woman, and many in the Riverlands would argue she was among the most beautiful. She wouldn't hurt a fly, even if she tried, and remained remarkably calm in difficult or stressful situations.
Her father, Pascal Tully, was proud of her simply for accepting the possibility and presenting herself as a candidate. Her mother, Amelia Tully, had never been fond of the Targaryens as a whole. While she respected the Good Queen and the current King, she held no love for his two brothers, Daemon and Aegon. The thought of her daughter potentially marrying Prince Daemon felt like a punishment.
She silently prayed it would never come to pass.
Though Amelia understood how such a marriage could benefit their family, the idea of her daughter wed to the Rogue Prince repulsed her. Disgusting pig, she thought.
Meanwhile, Anastasia's younger sister, Astrid, remained neutral about the situation, though she was relieved it wasn't happening to her after all. There's only one boy she has wanted to marry — Samwell Blackwood.
