In the fantasy town of Malish, Jasmine lives with her uncle and grandfather while also working at her family's tavern as a humble bartender. All that concerns her are books and when her brother Kellum will come home from his voyages at sea as a pirate. However, one night, she discovers that her family are a part of an underground Defiance built to overthrow the tyrannical Queen and her army of Enforcers.
When those Enforcers, led by Captain Canen, execute her family, Jasmine must flee her home for the Defiance base in Royltra as her own life is in peril now. With the help of Kellum, as well as those onboard the ship The Pride of Lust, she'll cross the ocean in her pursuit of sanctuary from those who killed her family. All the while, she forms close personal bonds with those around her while the shadow of the Queen's forces looms over her...
