"Well, here we are." Mr. Ebina said, after they had arrived at the fossil lab. "As you can see, there are a bunch of different fossils on display. We've been here before, so it shouldn't be too much of a surprise." Everyone took in the familiar room, even if they've seen it before, the many fossils don't get any less cool. However, fossils at the moment, were the least of their worries. Faking excitement was a hard task. "So, what do we do? Just take fossils?" Yasu asked. "There's a bunch of fossils I have stored elsewhere that you can take." Mr. Ebina said. He led the group over to a large bin full of fossils, the small relics piled high. "Wow, that's a lot to choose from." Reia stated. "You can choose three, it doesn't matter which." Mr. Ebina explained.
Choosing fossils didn't take too long, everyone just picked three that seemed just a little bit interesting.
"Wow, that was quick." Mr. Ebina said. "Here is a bag that you can put them in." Make sure to store them safely, so they don't get ruined, I'm talking to you" Mr. Ebina said, looking at Hijiri. "Yeah yeah, I got it." He responded. "Good. Now you all have some free time before dinner, so head off to your dorms and keep the fossils safe." Mr. Ebina directed. Without another word, the four students made their way to the dorms.
"Right. Okay, so we know Mr. Ebina is suspicious, but what about Kurachi?" Reia said, sitting down in a chair, grabbing a blanket. She didn't feel as cold as she did in the morning. "Let me get my phone from my room." Kyoufu said. "I'll search Kurachi on my phone." Yasu said. She looked his name up, while Kyoufu went to get his phone. "Alright...so it says here that Kurachi got a degree in biochemistry... oh he seems to have been very successful when he first graduated...but..." Yasu stopped reading for a moment, her eyes widened as she read. "What is it?" Reia asked. "Um...he was in jail for a year, doing some sort of experiment on animals. That was 10 years ago, and there haven't been any other known events like that evolving Kurachi." Yasu read. "Wait, 10 years ago?" Hijiri asked. "Yeah, he was in jail 10 years ago." Yasu repeated. "Our school trips started 10 years ago." He said. "He was released from jail when the trips started...could it just be a coincidence?" Yasu asked. "I dunno...sounds too relevant to be a coincidence." Reia said. "Yeah, you're right..." Yasu agreed.
"Um...guys...I can't find my phone." Kyoufu said, leaving the boys' room. "I'll call it." Reia said, getting up to get her phone from the girls' room. "Wait-..." Hijiri started, checking his pockets. "I don't have my phone." He said. "Was it in your pocket?" Yasu asked. "Yeah, it was...I had it in the animal lab but-" He stopped mid-sentence. "Guys, I can't find my phone either..." Reia said, returning to the main area. "Alright. This isn't a coincidence anyone." Yasu said. "I'm the only one that has my phone, Reia and Kyoufu left their phones in the room, while Hijiri had his phone in the morning..." Yasu thought. "Okay then...what if Mr. Ebina took our phones because he knew that we all knew something?" Hijiri asked. "Then that means..." Kyoufu was silent for a while. "Cameras..." He said hesitantly. "Cameras?! That's messed up!!" "...Ah...yeah...you sure it's cameras?" Hijiri asked. "Not positive, but...lets check our rooms for anything odd." Kyoufu said. "Okay..." Yasu said.
Reia and Yasu went to their room and began a search. "I hope it's not cameras...that's really creepy..." Yasu said, worriedly. "Hm...maybe it's just an audio thing...wait. Stop talking." Reia said. Yasu looked at her and nodded. They looked through the bookshelf, but didn't see anything out of the ordinary. They moved to the side tables next to their beds when they saw something odd.
Yasu pointed to the drawer that opened. She thought there could be a secret storage space beneath the bottom of the drawer. She was correct, the bottom of the drawer was hollow, but it sounded like there was an object in the drawer, hidden from view.
Suddenly, they heard a door open, open slightly. They froze. Reia pointed to a good spot to hide, between the beds. The door that opened was the door to the dorms, whatever was in the room, wouldn't be able to see the girls from where they were, but they didn't hear footsteps, they only heard the rolling sound of wheels on wood. That could be only one thing. Kurobot. Then Yasu realized. She didn't have her phone. She left it in the main dorm area. Shoot. That was what Kurobot was taking.
