Chapter 9: First Night
Natsu's POV:
Like Aunt Leona said; I apologized to Sig, who was just as confused. Both Leon and Uncle Leo were there too. I tried to hold back my tears seeing as I knew my newfound relatives didn't like it. Even though me and Aunt Leona are on good terms, I would like to keep it that way. I hugged Sig before a spacial mage created a portal to send them back to there village, turns out the village he will be living at is a neighboring Penshaw, called Flint.
Just before Sig and his grandmother left, Leon offered to invite them to the announcement ceremony. I hadn't realized that was an option so I loudly agreed, but was swiftly reminded that it wasn't just my choice. I turned to Sig's grandmother and Sig and I practically begged, reluctantly she agreed and they left.
I turn around and hop over to Leon, "So when is that party!?" I hop up and down, impatiently. "I'm hoping to do it within the next three months but it all depends on how well you do in your lessons." He brings his hand to his chin, contemplating. Uncle Leo walks over to me and ruffles my hair, "I wouldn't worry, It's basic stuff like reading, writing, and basic math and science."
I look up at him, "Math? Like counting?" Leo arches a brow and shrugs, "Well that's part of it, but I meant more along the line of basic algebra and chemistry." I freeze up, The adults started to talk but I couldn't hear them, 'What does algebra mean? Whats chemistry?...And I have to learn how to read and write in three months!?'
Aunt Leona scoffs and folds her arms, "It's mostly just a lot of reading. You read when you write, you read when you do math and you read in science. So it's pretty easy."
Leon turns to her and scoffs, "Please dear sister, I remember you struggling with every subject when we were younger, so much so that father had to personally tutor you because you refused to listen to Theresa unless it was advice about training."
"Are you calling me incompetent, Feogoleon!?" Leona seethed marching up and getting in Leona's face. He returned the glare, "No, I'm simply stating the obvious." they continued to fight. Me and Uncle Leo exchanged looks before he led me back to the house, "Don't worry about your studies, Fuegoleon will hand-choose an instructor." Leo stated our back towards the fighting siblings.
I glance behind me at them, "Are they going to be okay?" By now it had escalated and they were throwing punches at each other. I was concerned, I know Aunt Leona was really strong but I had no idea how strong Leon was. Uncle Leo scoffed, "They will be fine, honestly, every time sister comes to visit they fight. I'm just surprised this didn't happen sooner." He looked exhausted about the whole ordeal as he led me back.
It was getting dark and Leo was showing me around, well he was trying to. I didn't have the heart to tell him I wasn't remembering. Eventually, we made our round back to my room, "You already know this but until we can get you a permanent room, you will be staying here." he pointed directly across the hall, "That Fuegoleons room and office, if you need him he will be there or at the Crimson Lion Kings base." and then pointed to the room next Leons room and stated that it was Aunt Loena's room. He finally pointed to the one next to mine, "That is my room." not paying attention I respond, "I know. The old man's room"
He jumped and looked at me, " my room is not an old man's room!" I shrug and walk over to his room, opening the door. "Yeah? If it's not an old man's room then why do you have a rocking chair." I go over and hop onto the chair, I start to kick my legs back and forth to rock it. Uncle walks over and grabs the back, stopping its motion. "My mother read me stories when I was younger. She always sat in this chair and I never saw the need to remove it." I look around and sure enough, he had a mini library. What stuck with me most was the fact he said his mother read to him, or my grandmother read to him, "Yeah gramma used to read me stories too." I mumble while I hop off the chair.
