Chapter 14: Do Better
Natsu's POV:
"Come on sweetie. You have to help your grandpa with the harvest...." a gentle voice preyed at me. I was surrounded by warmth
"Firebug come on..." it whispered again.
I could barely see anything. It was so blurry
"Natsu please get up..."
"Natsu...."
"Natsu wake up." this time a different voice forced its way into my ears. Unlike the others, this one wasn't as familiar.
"Natsu!" this time the voice was louder. I pride my eyes open but instantly squeezed them shut with a groan as the bright sun peaked into my vision. I groaned again and roll over shoving my face further into the fluffy pillow.
"Natsu. It's the middle of the day, we have things to do." the voice said again, this time gently shaking my shoulder.
I finally open my eyes to get them adjusted. Sure enough, I was laying in a field using one of the lionesses as a pillow. I look up and the voice finally made sense, it was Fuegoleon, he carried the same strict but at the same time, blank look that I was becoming accustomed to. I huff and sit up, making sure to pet the lion before turning to the older man. Rubbing my eyes to get used to the bright sun. Recently it has been getting harder to keep my eyes open, it felt like a constant battle between me and my consciousness.
"Natsu. You must speak up." Leon spoke. I sigh, I had forgotten that just like every other day this one was going to be filled with work. "Sorry...Where are we going again?" I barely speak above a whisper.
Leon furrowed his brow in confusion. "We have to visit Doctor Owen..perhaps I will have him give you a full check-up if you're forgetting already."
"NO! I feel fine." I insisted, if they find out about anything going on, I'm screwed. I can't let them catch wind of it. "Why? is there a sickness going around? You're not acting normal either." I snap back, trying to act energetic, but it may have come out more defensive than anything.
It was also very true, it was subtle but since Mother got here he has been acting....off. I just wrote it off as him being normal because I had only known him for a week prior, much like how he assumed for me.
" No, nothing is going around." he paused putting his hands up in a surrender motion. "I'm just concerned."
'Yeah right, concerned...' I seriously doubted that notion.
I thought as we started on our way. The whole way there he tried to make small talk to cure the awkward silence between us, but I only gave short answers or ignored them altogether. My thoughts were already occupied mostly with my situation and lack of sleep, half the time I didnt even hear him.
"I heard you are spending time with Rella's son....How is he?" he asked
"He's fine....Fun to mess with..." I state back. And like his other questions, it would fade into that uncomfortable silence.
"That's nice to hear. He seems like a fine young man." he paused for a moment, to look at me. I only shrug back.
"It's nice to hear you're making some friends, especially since there aren't many people your age. As long as nothing inappropriate happens I think you will be great friends." Leon smiled at me. But I arch a brow back not understanding what he meant.
"Inappropriate? What do you mean." I asked, finally interested in the conversation.
He chokes a bite, "well.. It's you know.." he rubs the back of his neck. Which only makes me more curious. "Like.....Like hugging and well uh.....HAND HOLDING!" he said loudly as he clasped his hands together, trying to demonstrate his point in a panicked manner.
