The mile to Treasure Cove seemed to take an eternity before arriving as I wiped the sweat off my face.

"Alo, check the bush near ye, and see if you can find the key," I commanded.

The Liburnian takes his cutlass as instructed and begins to slice through the thorns, branches falling to the ground as he searches for the key. He continued with a frown on his face, troubling himself that he could not see it.

"Captain, key not here as boy say. Need to put liar to death, " Bo growled with clenched teeth, digging his nails into his skin.

"Touch the boy, and I'll feed you to the sharks. Under no circumstance should you ever hurt him. He's a child, for God's sake. " I grabbed his neck with force, beginning to choke him as his chest heaved for breath.

I learned too quickly that the tribe of Ugljan can be unpredictable and heartless towards any traitor no matter the person.

"Traitor try kill us so we kill him," He choked out before kicking me off of him, releasing my grip on his neck.

"No, Bo. Do as Captain say!" Alo cried out, pleading for mercy over his dear friend.

But he wouldn't stop. Bo took off with Alo's cutlass towards the child, racing with a speed faster than anyone I've known to exist.

I turned my head towards the cave where my son could be and then the other way of an enraged servant who is more loyal to his emotions than his orders. To murder an innocent child whom reminded me of my son.

"Damn," I muttered under my breath with annoyance before taking a step the other way. Before I galloped behind him, I instructed Alo to keep searching for the key with great thoroughness and that I'd return soon.

Alo nodded without emotion, turning around to the bush to dig for the key.

Would there be enough time to save him?

As I wondered with dread in my chest, a horse appeared in my view, alone and drinking from inside a large boulder that was broken into two. The rain had likely poured onto the mold of a bowl from inside the rock and held a bit of water enough for the habitation to take from.

Immediately, I bolted towards the horse and flung myself over the back and unto the sadle, grabbing ahold of the reins and pulling it to turn the horse around. Thankfully, the horse didn't put up a fight as he galloped faster and faster through the trail.

"AH!" I heard Seonghwa's shrill scream, kicking the horse slightly to accelerate his speed. After the scream, there was only silence in the air, and I feared for the worst.

"C'mon! Curse it, Davy Jones!" I yelled, the horse beginning to tire from the sudden and long race.

I yanked the reins of the horseback and jumped off the back, darting towards the boy with a sliver of hope inside.

When I arrived at the tree he had previously sat under, there Bo was, lying on the ground with a knife in his heart. Blood poured unto the damp sand, and his eyes were still opened in his wrath, without a breath escaping. The fearful Seonghwa I had seen earlier in the day with stars in his eyes seemed to have changed to lifeless orbs. No sign of being horrified, fear, or remorse. Just... as if he had given up or hated what he had become. There were no emotions evident in his stance or expression.

"Are ye alright?" I walked over to him, placing my hand on his back.

"I'm just like him, aren't I? If not now, one day, " He muttered as he stared at the bloodied corpse.

"No, Seonghwa. Listen to me, you are nothing like Blackbird, ye hear? It was self-defense. If you hadn't killed him, who would care for your brother, hm?" I attempted to reassure him. I knew all too well the way he felt, forced to learn how to kill, steal, and take what's yours. It was a suffocating demon overwhelming you into taking your identity as your parents forced you to be something you didn't want to be while trying your hardest to reach the light that seemed to be out of reach.
