5 Centuries later in the Atlantic Sea

Raider's Pov

"Captain! I don't think we are going to make it!"

"Look! There's another ship closing in on us!"

"We're going to die!"

Shouts of my crew echoed into the storm, but the sound of heavy thunder drowned their voices into every crash.

"Ah!" I hear a shrieking scream from within my cabin.

My head spins around and time is ticking. There's so much happening around me, I can't think to make a decision.

The darkness of the clouds thickened more as flashes of lightning touched the sea. The waves pounds into the ship with every moment, entering into every crack and door it could find. The crew was right, there is no chance that my ship would make it through, much less my crew.

"Raider! We need to talk!" I heard a familiar voice and immediately felt dread.

"Or do I need to motivate you to move quicker?"

"Scarlet!" I cried out, watching the enemy of my past shove a cloth in her mouth to prevent her from using her siren song.

Blackbird Scar. We used to be best friends and went together everywhere to find the 7 rings from each sea. We had found all but one with the same purpose, that with all the rings together, one of us could be the most powerful pirate to ever live and to never die. Without uniting the rings together at the mountain, none of the rings would work.

The only way it would work is if we brought the rings to a place called Skull Mountain. There were two reasons we had torn apart from another. One, I fell in love with a siren named Scarlet. She wanted to live on land, away from her family that she used to know. They wanted her to be against humans because of a war long ago that destroyed their kingdom.

Although her family was violent towards man, Scarlet wanted to move on from the past and join the marine kingdom and land together. Because of her passion of being united, she stole the ring that was created in her kingdom. The power of fire, earth, water, and air.

"C'mon Raider, don't you want to play a game with me? Let's call it, give me the last ring or I slit your wife's throat" Blackbird sneered with a sword held to her neck, the other hand holding the front of her abdomen.

"Mmm!" Scarlet twisted her body from side to side, struggling to get out of his grip. It was difficult due to the seawater touching her legs which had turned her to her natural form.

"I don't know where it is! Give me back my wife!" I growled and lunged at him. Before I could reach the cloak of his garment, I was pulled back by two of his seamen.

"You know, I think I will keep her for myself. What do you think crew?" Blackbird bursted into a sinister cackle.

"Aye!" The seamen responded in agreement, laughing with the Captain.

Looking around, I start to search for my men but they are nowhere to be found. My quartermaster, the right hand man, is found dead a few steps away from me and my heart sinks. Everything is sinking.

"Well, well, well. Looks like it's your lucky day isn't it? It's too bad I have to leave you. But don't think I'll leave without a payment to me. After all Raider..." Blackbird drops Scarlet to the floor and steps towards me, only a few inches from my face.

"You broke your promise" His finger jabbed into my chest with a scowl.

"You know that I am not the person you became friends with. The one you used to know was the old me, but that is not who I am anymore" I spat in his face, clenching my jaw.

"Ha! The only reason you "supposedly" changed, was because of a fish. Who's to say, Lockeheart, that she didn't just enchant you with her lying tongue? After all, she longs to reside with humans and get away from home right? Yet, all of a sudden, you had a change of heart. People don't change. That is just how it is. And as for your son? Oh did you think you could hide him from me? Think again" Blackbird motioned with his finger for his boatswain to bring him my son of three years.

"Consider it as a payment to me. Your son is now mine. You could've had everything you wanted. I'd finish getting the rings and you would have had your wife back. Ahem, sorry, your dead wife. Poor son. Never had a chance to see his dear ole mum to tuck him in with  a kiss goodnight. She was too sick to go on and you were too heartbroken so you moved on to another woman. If you had went with me, your wife could've came back to life and there would be a happily ever after" He smirked devilishly.

"It would've been impossible! You never cared about me. You used me like you do everyone else to get what you want. You never would've given me the chance to resurrect Helena even if you had all the power that could ever exist"

"And while that's true, you could've fought for your family. Don't proclaim to be a good man, when you're blinded by a woman who isn't even fully human. You turned your back on me, your own son, and your wife for her. Don't preach to me how good you are when you are just as dark as me. Next time I find you, if you even make it, I'll be taking your next child if you don't find the ring by then" Blackbird turned around and picked my son up over his shoulders.

Seeing that the ship was about to pull apart in two, he shouts to his crewmen to get back into the Blackbird Shadow. His ship held a raven bird carving into the front of the ship, the wings spreading unto the sides of the brigantine.

As the men drop me to the ground, my head hits the back end of the cannon, knocking me unconscious and without hope.

Scarlet could barely hold herself up with her tail, her body full of bruises and cuts. Her enlarged stomach held our first child of nearing nine months. The baby is supposed to be coming at any moment but with the damage to her, I'm not sure the child will make it. My son now has been taken from my grasp in which I had hidden under a compartment only I knew of.
Some of my members jumped off the ship, some died from fighting off Blackbird's seamen, others joined him instead to save their own life. Everything I have is taken from me.

Scarlet has the last ring that Blackbird wanted and for years, we have kept it that way to protect the rest of the world. If the last ring got in the hands of my enemy, everything that exists will go up in flames. Every country, island, breath of life will be subject under Blackbird and he will never die.

So if my life be given up for the greater cause, so be it.  Blackbird was right, I wasn't meant to be the father my son needed and I pray that he will make it through the end of this eternal darkness.
