The air is touching my hair, it makes me shiver. It's almost 5 o'clock in the afternoon but I'm sweating. "Its almost time", my heart begins pounding more and more as I hear these words inside my head. Will she take it? Will she walk away from me? Am I going to be rejected? I'm thinking that things will not go well as I planned. My face is turning pale. My knees are somewhat trembling. Will I back down? No! That's not a choice. It's too late to back down. I already made her promise to meet me here. Then, I snapped out of it. This is the moment I have been waiting for so long. I held on tight on the chocolate I am holding.
Then, the rooftop door opened. Time seems to freeze as it reveals the girl I am waiting for. She's standing right there. Her long red hair sways along with the gentle breeze as she walks by. She looked at me with her brown sharp eyes. Her silhouette has her goddess figure revealed as she walks towards me. The cold breeze still blows gently as if it is whispering. Her enchanted voice broke the silence.
"So, for what do you need me for?" she said with a smile on her face.
I came back to my senses and now able to put myself together. "Uhm, Mia," I paused as my thoughts shuffled. "What? Are you sick?" she asked with a caring tone. "You know what? It annoys me when you're like that Rey. It makes me feel uncomfortable. If you have something important to say−"
"I love you!" I said without looking at her, at that very time I didn't care on what words to say. I just felt that my heart let my lips move. "I loved you since we were in grade school. I never had a chance to say this in the past but I am in love with you." I handed her the box I am holding−
"No Rey. I cannot accept this." My world seems to tear itself apart. My hearing seems only to hear the wind blow. My tears began falling. I never thought my tears would be as cheap as a box of chocolate then, Mia hugged me.
I felt overjoyed, yet, shocked that I don't know what is going on. "Sorry Rey, I am in love with you too. I just can't accept this box. I'm not into sweets, don't you remember?" she said with a blush on her cheeks.
After hearing these words, my world began to rebuild itself as it was a broken mirror removing the cracks magically and revealing a picture of what I'm seeing.
"Really?" I cannot believe it. I am shocked. My heart that was worried, afraid and nervous recently is now filled with joy and happiness.
"Of course." she replied.
"Mia, can you be my−" She moved her head and our cheeks touched. I can feel my blood rose from head to my cheeks at that moment. I tightened my grip, I don't want to let go. She pulled away her face and whispered "Let's go home it's already 7:34. I don't want to be a bad influence to you." "Alright, then, I'll walk you home." I replied.
We walked in silence. I don't know what to say. On the contrary, she's still smiling.
"Rey, are you supposed to ask me to be your girlfriend back there?" she asked with a serious face.
"Oh that? Yes, but you didn't let me finish it." I replied,
I stopped walking and asked her, "Will you be my girlfriend Ms. Mia Montecarlos?" I asked without even feeling nervous.
"No, I will not." She said with a smile on her face.
I can't help it but I feel sad. I'm feeling confused, I don't know what to say or how to respond. I don't know if it is a rejection or not.
"I don't want to be your girlfriend." She said with a smile.
"Why?" I asked.
"It's because you're stupid" she replied with pouted lips.
"Wait, you said you love me too but you don't want to be my girlfriend? And now I'm stupid to you?" I asked with a confused voice.
"Of course you're stupid. You told me you love me and now you're asking me to be you're girl-FRIEND?" She said, "I love you and want you to be my lover. We're already friends and you are asking for what you already have. You are very stupid Rey." She said making my face blush. "I just like us to be pairs, lovers or anything. I don't care for courtships. I only care about my feelings that would go to waste."
I can't say a word. I can't stop my lips from smiling. She held my hand and walked enjoying the company of each other. We talked about many things. We seemed not tired of our long walk until I get her home.
"Good bye and goodnight Mia" I said.
She just smiled and replied "I'm sorry but I hate goodbyes. See you tomorrow. Take care." I just smiled back and continued my way home.
The next day, I walked my way to school as I always do. But this day, I tried something different: I went out of my house early and waited on the waiting shed, blocks away from Mia's house. I sat on the steel bench and lay my back on it. I waited for a long 1 hour. Without any company to pass my time, an hour seemed like a day.
I looked left and right from time to time hoping to see Mia walking with a smile on her face. I felt bored! I reminisced about what happened yesterday. My thoughts became my company at that time. Time passed by twice faster than before. I started to think if all of it was just a dream. I partly convinced myself if it was really a dream but, my reminiscence was cut by Mia's soft, gentle voice calling to me.
"Rey, Rey, Rey are you alright?" She moved her face close to mine, "What are you fantasizing about?"
"I just happened to wait for you here" I replied with an awkward look on my face.
"I just want to prove that yesterday wasn't just a dream." I added while I stood up and invited her if we can walk together. But she just gave me a smile.
On our way to school, she asked me:
"So today is Friday. Do you have any plans tomorrow?" she asked with a smile.
"No" I replied.
"Let's meet tomorrow at the town Plaza." She said.
"Okay! I'll be there at 9 o'clock." I said.
"So it's settled. Tomorrow, town Plaza, 9 o'clock" she smiled.
We arrived at the school in time. She told me to go home and not to wait for her after class because she's got a meeting on their Arts club.
"Okay, just be sure to go home with your other girl classmates or else I'll be worried" I said. She just answered with a smile and I turned around with a smile too.
