Weeks passed and it's already a month before Christmas. It seems like our first date is still fresh as a holiday spring.. Now I'm wondering what to do to repay Mia's sweetness over me. I walked towards the staircase of our school corridor as I saw a paper posted on the end of the wall.

"OUR SPORTSFEST WILL BE HELD ON DECEMBER 12. ALL STUDENTS ARE FREE TO BUILD THEIR OWN TEAM CONSISTING OF 7-10 PLAYERS." says the letters written on the paper. I heard foot steps of running towards me. As I looked I saw Vince exhausted.

"You look excited Buddy, what's the matter?" I asked

"We have our sportsfest next next week! I'll have my fan club again" he said with a sparkling puppy eyes. He looked silly and added "There would be visitors from US sponsoring our school funds. They'll play with the champion in an exhibition game"

"That was great Bud, I think I'll join" I said with excitement. We were talking when someone walked between us then bumped me and Vince. As I looked to the person, I didn't recognize him. He has a big body and fat face. He's wearing civilian clothes during school day. He has his 2 companions with smaller built.

"What was that for?" Vince asked. The man turned to him and arrogantly said "You're in my way."

I thwarted in their conversation. "Come on, isn't it rude to speak righteously when you are on the wrong side?"

"F*ck the hell, don't lecture me as if you're a higher up. Don't you know who I am?" he said as he held my collar. I'm about to remove his grip when he released getting me off balanced. My temper suddenly arose. I saw Vince having a deadly glare on the man provoking a fight while helping me on my feet. It has been a long time since we provoked a fight. The other two are about to hold Vince's arms then he ran down 4 steps of the staircase.

"Hey, if you have a problem with us then tell us! Do you have your GMRC passed?" Vince angrily said.

"Shut your mouth. Or be expelled." The man said. Vince's temper is shorter than mine. He's about to punch the man when a teacher came up the stairs. She stopped the argument and sent us back to our respective rooms.

"Vince and Rey, you can go back to your room."

We went back to our room and wait for our teacher. Our next class would be science. It's my and Mia's favorite subject. Our teacher arrived and we greeted her with glee.

"Alright class, you may sit down. I have an announcement, you have a new classmate." She looked outside the door and called the newbie "You may introduce yourself"

I'm surprised when I saw the newbie. Vince suddenly pinched my shoulder, "Hey buddy, looks like the wild boar is our classmate."

"Oh yeah, good thing It'd be Christmas vacation next week." I said. I looked in front and he began to introduce himself.

"I'm Janus Van El Nido. I'm 19 years old." She shortly said.

"Can you tell us about yourself Mr. El Nido?" our teacher said.

"I'm the next heir of the El Nido Enterprises." He said. Our teacher placed him in the vacant sit next to me. He's about to sit down when he looked me in the eye.

"Hey Maam, can you replace my seatmate?" he sarcastically asked. Our teacher nodded and reassigned me in a new desk. Vince stood.

"What the? Who the hell are you to give such a rude request?" he said with a forceful tone.

"What? What I want is what I get. Do you have any problem with that? Janus said

"Tchh, do you want me to teach you a lesson?" he said. I stood up and went to my new seat.

"Vince calm down, it's alright." I said with a smile. Vince sat down still pissed off when janus began talking again.

"A dog really sits down when his master tells him to. A dog's dumbness depends on the dumbness of his master that's why you're dumb." Vince was about to stand but I spoke.

"And a dog is a dog. Then you speak lower than a dog's" I sarcastically said. Janus stood up and approached me then our teacher interrupted. "Both of you stop this nonsense. Sit down or be suspended."

I sat down. The class began and the teacher asked a question. "What are your reactions in Lamarck's theory of needs? Do you accept or not and explain."

Janus stood up and confidently answered. "Maam I accept this theory. Organisms evolve according to their needs. They will acquire characteristics and will be passed to another generation."

"Okay? Another answers?" the teacher said. She called me after I raised my hand.

"Unlike of what he said, I don't believe this theory. What Mr. El Nido is quite right except the fact that they actually evolve for needs. They evolve because they survive and their traits will be mutated as they produce offspring. Further more, traits acquired are not passed on but mutated genes are. So therefore, I think this theory will be rejected soon enough." I answered and my classmates clapped and wooed. Janus just looked at me as if he'd kill me. In every time he answers I also answer. When I see something wrong, I'll counter his answer. Our class ended and I went to see Mia. We walked holding hands and I told her what happened. She seemed to recall Janus.

"Rey, Janus is the son of my father's boss." She said.

"Oh really? Small world." I said expressionlessly.

Mia turned to a silent mode. She looked gloomy. Earlier she's so active so I inhaled and sang.

[the song is attached to this story]

"You're the sky that I fell through

And I remember the view whenever I'm holding you

The sun hung from a string

Looking down on the world as it warmed over everything

Chills run down my spine as our fingers entwine

And your sighs harmonize with mine

Unmistakably I can still feel your heart

Beat fast when you dance with me

We got older and I should have known

That I'd feel colder when I walk alone

So I may as well ditch my dismay

Circle me and the needle moves gracefully

Back and forth, if my heart was a compass you'd be North

Risk it all 'cause I'll catch you if you fall

Wherever you go, if my heart was a house you'd be home"

She smiled at me and asked me a weird question. "If I'm going get married with the man I don't love, will you come and get me?" I saw her eyes filled with sincerity. I looked her in the eyes and smiled.

"You're not listening Mia," I said. I repeated a part of the song to her while I pressed his hands tightly.

"Risk it all 'cause I'll catch you if you fall

Wherever you go,

if my heart was a house you'd be home"

Mia smiled and walked faster. She's still holding my hand but she seems not wanting to let go. before I know it we're at her house.

"Rey, I'll introduce you to my family" she said with a huge smile.
