|16| The First Battle

"The first match of the first round of the finals tournament." Midnight started, reaching into the lots box. "From the hero course, it's Y/n L/n, up agai-"

"Wait!" Everyone's attention panned to Ojiro. "I would like to forfeit."

Hagakure ran over. "Why? Is something wrong?"

"Yes. Even though my team got to the top, I didn't do anything. It's because of that guy's Quirk I think. I know this is a huge opportunity and it would be stupid to pass it up, but it's a matter of dignity. Everyone worked so hard to get here, but I did nothing."

"That's not true Ojiro! If you just work your hardest the whole time..."

"But, at the same time, it could show to the agencies he's a good person and has dignity."

"I guess it's the honorable thing to do, but still..."

"Exactly, but why are you wearing cheerleading uniform?

Midoriya sighed while looking at you. "L/n, I can't compete against Todoroki. Can... can you beat him for me? Plus, your reasoning... I want you to win! Plus my arm still hurts..."

"Midoriya what are you doing! Of course you can, and I don't need to win anyways! I was just runnin' my mouth!"

"You also have All Might's eyes on you. It's the same thing."

"No Midoriya don't you dare do it-"

"I'd like to forfeit as well, Ms. Midnight!" 

"No he doesn't! What the hell are you doing?"

"I don't care L/n! Take my place in the festival and help Todoroki, please!"

"I-I can't!"

"I trust you can." 

"...What innocent words. I..." Midnight grabbed her whip. "Liked them! I accept Midoriya and Ojiro's resignation!"

"Urgh... I can't believe you did that Midoriya. You're the main character too."

"Huh?"

"Nothing."

"In order to take their places, L/n will take Midoriya's path for his wishes and Tetsutetsu and Shiozaki will join!"

"Oh, I'm against Hitoshi and then Todoroki."

Shinso walked up to you. "Just because we're friends doesn't mean I'll go easy on you."

"Likewise, Hitoshi. From now until the end of the fight we're enemies. Good luck. You'll need it." You walked to the changing room thingys until the girls decided to make you help them cheer.

Todoroki looked up. Disappointing that Midoriya quit, but I guess I still get to fight against L/n. She's a really strong opponent, and that battle might be tricky. If she even gets near me she could float me.

"Young Midoriya!" All Might ran up to the boy.

"A-All Might?"

"Why, my boy, did you give up?"

"Because I knew that I still need to polish up my powers and I don't want to severely harm anyone! What if my 100% kills them... I need to get stronger first! Plus, L/n... She needs to win."

All Might sighed and patted his head. "That's... Kind of you."

You bumped into the two. "Hey, I'm sorry for talking Midoriya... you should be up there. Not me! I'm so sorry I made you think you have to forfeit!" 

"It wasn't because of you! I swear!"

"... Well, I guess I got a fight to win."

You stepped out. 

"FIRST FIGHT!!! FIRST ITS THE GIRL WHO GOT THE 1 MILLION, YYYYYYYYYYYYYY/NNNNNNNNNNN LLLLLLL/NNNNNNNNNN!!! *insert air horn sounds*"

"Seriously how are you doing that?"

"AGAINST... THAT SEVERELY TIRED KID WITH EYE BAGS YOU CAN SEE FROM A MILE AWAY, HITTTTOOOSSHHIIIIIII SHINNNSSSOOOOOOO! *even louder air horn sounds somehow*"

"AGAIN MIC WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOUR MOUTH?!"

"The rules are simple! If your opponent can't move, says I give up, or steps out, the victory is yours! Oh and don't kill them, obviously."

You smirked. "Hear that Hitoshi? You might as well give up right now, or get the beating of a lifetime."

"Stole the words straight from my mouth, Y/n. But aren't you being a little cocky?"

He could basically hear your thoughts. Thought that would get me, eh?

"Well, at least you aren't as stupid as that monkey. To give up this opportunity."

Damn, you really are getting the beating of a lifetime.

"Start!"

You ran forward, going to tackle the boy. Panicked, he yelled without thinking trying to get you to talk. "But being cocky must come from your father, huh? I noticed you're quite a bit like him! Or maybe from your last friendship?"

"What did you just say...?" Well, you got caught. Damnit.

"Huh? L/n stopped moving! Is Shinso really that scary?"

"Now turn around and walk out of bounds. Sorry Y/n."

You turned. Maybe I can blind myself! If I can think I can use my quirk!

You opened your eyes fully and used all your willpower. Come on...

A blinding light surrounded you. 

"Oh shit. Wait how?"

You turned your head to the boy and your expression, in one word, was pissed.

I'll never be like that asshole! Or... Or... You thought, teary eyed for some reason.

"Wow, you're more powerful than I thought Y/n. Well, I guess I lost fair n square."

You ran and kicked him in the gut, him going to the other side of the stadium.

"Uhhh L/n wins against Shinso!"

You went over to him and poked his cheek. "Hey. Wake up."

"Ugh... That hurt."

"You deserved it."

"I promise I wasn't thinking Y/n."

"Don't worry, I could tell, but don't pull a stunt like that ever again. You understand?"

"Yeah yeah N/n."

"Wow N/n? That takes me back."

You pulled him up and the people in the audience were confusion. They're friends?

"They were cocky people."

"Yes, but I'd never learn anything from those dumbasses."

"I guess."

"Since you're calling me N/n should I go back to calling you Hito?"

"I guess."

"Can you only say I guess?"

"I gues- Wait no!"

"That's good... do you need to lean on me?"

"Of course-!" He clenched his stomach and coughed. "Of course not. You're weak as fuck."

"Language." You helped him get up before walking over to recovery girl. "Hey, I beat him up. Can you heal him?"

"Yes deary!" 

You nodded before walking off. That was tiring. I hope that the next chapter is a flashback chapter. (It is)
