The mysterious figure was circling the tavern, dropping slight amounts of a green liquid in parts where the walls had holes. She moved gracefully around the building, until a light appeared behind her along with the sound of metallic footsteps.
"You, stop there!" a male voice commanded, and she raised her arms in surrender.
"Turn around and loose the hood!" he commanded, and the mysterious person obeyed, slowly removing her hood to reveal a tanned, dark haired young girl.
"Who are you? What are you doing here?" the soldier commanded, and she approached slowly, hands still in the air.
"My name is Meyra, and I want to speak with the Princess."
"What's your business with the princess?"
"I have valuable information on the whereabouts of the witch."
The guard looked at his companion, who nodded stiffly, and then each of them placed on either side of Meyra, walking into the forest. They were quiet the entire time, and after an hour or so Meyra spotted a faint glimmer in the distance. As she approached, she distinguished guards carrying torches around the camp's perimeter, and the soldier tents that were set up surrounding a big, red tent on the center.
"Halt! Identify yourself," Said one of the guards, approaching with his torch, as the soldiers accompanying Meyra saluted him.
"Garret and Streyn, Commander. This lady requested an audience with the Princess,"
The commander eyed her warily, eyes scanning her meticulously.
"What's in the bag?" he demanded, and Meyra opened it to reveal several books and papers. The commander looked up at the soldiers and nodded stiffly, moving aside as they led her to the main tent. They stopped right outside the entrance, and Garret whispered something to the guard on the door, who nodded and walked inside the tent. A few moments later, he came out, holding the flap of the tent open for them. Meyra walked inside, the soldiers after her, and she got a good glimpse around her. In a corner, a bed was set up next to a chest, that she presumed stored the Princess' clothes and other stuff. On the other end, a tub and a changing screen were waiting, and at the center of it all, a table with several documents strewn all over it, behind which Ilio was standing.
"Your Highness," Meyra said respectfully, bowing, and the princess acknowledged her with a nod.
"I was told you wished to see me," she prompted, and Meyra took out a poster showing Selenya's face from her bag, placing it on the table.
"It is my understanding that you're looking for her," she started, and watched the fraction of a second in which the Princess features showed something similar to fear. She wondered if anyone else was able to notice.
"And you've come to offer information of her whereabouts?"
"Not only that, your Highness, but also of her intentions," she said carefully, and this time the Princess didn't bother to hide the way it piqued her interest, motioning for Meyra to sit, just as she did the same.
"Speak."
"From what I can gather, Your Highness, she's experimenting with memory spells, unsuccessfully of course," she explained, and looked the knuckles on Ilio's hand turn white with tension. The princess spared a brief glance to one of the papers of her desk, frowning, and Meyra followed her gaze. A second later, the Princess let out a sight, set her shoulders and straightened even more on her chair.
"She's planning to hurt Korem, alter his memory somehow, enslave him and-"
"She's not going to hurt him!" she exclaimed indignantly, before seemingly remembering herself, shrinking back into to her chair, abashed.
