The town was in terror when Ashley was killed. School was closed on Monday for Ashley's funeral and out of fear, the Halloween dance was cancelled too. Bussinesses closed early.  No one left their house when it got dark. The town started having a curfew. Afted six, everyone was encouraged to go home.

Katherine stood there in front of Ashley as she looked down at her best friend and silently cried. Katherine blamed herself for Ashley's death. If I didn't suggest going to West Virginia, Ashley would have been home earlier and safe with her parents. We'd be at school right now. She'd still be alive if it weren't for me. Katherine was still thinking about the news report on Ashley's death and Thomas' words came to mind.
Whatever it was got into the car and attacked her when she was passed out. Thomas' words echoed in her mind.
None of this makes any sense. Katherine tbought. How did this happen? Why am I still alive and Ashley isn't? How is any of this fair? Ashley's parents don't deserve this. No one does.

"I'm sorry." Katherine softly whispered as she laid a hand on Ashley's hands that were on her stomach. "It's all my fault." Katherine mumbled so soft not even a mouse could hear her.

"No... it's not." Katherine heard a familiar male voice and turned seeing Noah.

"Yes, it is." Katherine softly cried as Noah wrapped an arm around her waist and walked her back to her seat.

"Accidents happen, Kat." Noah responded trying to comfort Katherine as they sat down together. Noah knew this wasn't some crazy accident. Noah knew better and Veronica confirmed a vampire had killed her, judging by the bite mark found on her neck. That same vampire killed those two boys. Ethan killed them all. I just know it. Noah thought to himself.

"How did you know what I said?" Katherine whispered in Noah's ear.

"What?" Noah whispered back.

"But how did you know what I was saying?"

"You whispered it... I heard it." Noah murmured.

"I was really quiet." Katherine pointed out in a softer whisper.

"Great hearing." Noah sighed softly.

"Where's Ethan?" Katherine softly asked and suddenly heard footsteps and saw Ethan walking towards Ashley's casket.

"What's he doing here?" Noah asked, angry and annoyed. "He shouldn't be here, he has no right to be." But Noah  instantly regretted asking it out loud, remembering where he was and who he was with

"Ashley was his girlfriend." Katherine whispered as she smacked Noah's arm and glared at him.
