(Mirabelle knocks on Finnigan's office door)

(Finnigan opens the door)

Finnigan: Mirabelle, you're up early.

Mirabelle: Yeah, I usually am.

Finnigan: What about the rest of your family?

Mirabelle: They like to sleep in, so I don't bother them.

Finnigan: Wow. Forgive me for saying this, but your nothing like your family.

Mirabelle: I know. That's because I was adopted when I was a baby.

(Mirabelle enters Finnigan's office)

(Finnigan closes the door)

Finnigan: Wait. What?! You were adopted?!

Mirabelle: Yeah. My parents wanted to adopt, so they went to the orphanage and adopted me.

Finnigan: Wow. I didn't know.

Mirabelle: That's alright. I love my family.

Finnigan: But do you know who your real parents are?

Mirabelle: Daddy told me that my Mom was just a young adult when she had me. He said that she was homeless when they found her and that she didn't have the means to take care of me. Mainly because she was autistic.

Finnigan: How did she ever. .well you know.

Mirabelle: She was raped. My daddy told me that she was sold to a man as a slave. But eventually she escaped.

Finnigan: How?

Mirabelle: Dad told me that she didn't want to talk about it anymore. She said it was too traumatic to remember.

Finnigan: I can understand that. But did you ever meet her? Do you even know her name?

Mirabelle: Daddy said that her name was Megara. They called her Meg for short. And no, I haven't met her.

Finnigan: Why not?

Mirabelle: Because daddy told me that she wasn't ready to be a mom. . ., or even to know me.

(Finnigan is surprised)

(Mirabelle is wiping away some tears)

(Finnigan goes over to her)

Finnigan: I'm sorry. That must have been hard to hear.

Mirabelle: It was. But I'm Ok. Dad gave me this.

(Mirabelle shows him a picture of her mother)

Mirabelle: Just to know what she looked like.

(Finnigan looks at the picture)

Finnigan: You look just like her.

(Mirabelle giggles)

Mirabelle: Yeah, well, I am her daughter.

Finnigan: (Chuckles) Yeah, you are.

(Mirabelle and Finnigan stare at each other)

Finnigan: Well. .uh. (Clears throat)

Mirabelle: I should wake up my family now.

Finnigan: Yeah. And I should get to my desk and start cleaning up the drawers. They're messy.

Mirabelle: Alright. Well, I'll see you. ., probably, around.

Finnigan: Yeah. See you around)

(Mirabelle bumps into the door)
