I slammed my locker door, my mood had went from great to complete pissy shit after lunch. I was baffled and pissed that Lance gave me, of all people, THAT kind of look. Like I was betraying him or something like that kind of sorts.

I walked slowly down the hallway, half-conscious of the other students around me talking, screaming, and all the other crazy mess that teens do these days, still trying to think of why Lance would look at me like that. Am I not allowed to talk to other guys? Do I need to get permission to talk to them? Did he think I was planning on dating him? I mean, hell, the last time I dated someone what in middle school, and that was my first boyfriend. Not like it lasted long; only lasted for a week before he made me aggravated and caused me to punch him and earn a write up.

Sighing, I walked towards the first floor and saw Lance and a group of his friends talking and laughing, my heart squeezing at how he was able to be so happy at the moment. He looked up and happened to catch my gaze, giving me a smile that made my insides shrivel inside from my heart pounding so hard. I hated that I liked him so much at times like this! He pissed me off, and my feelings for him weren't going to delude that feeling.

I gave him a look of what I hoped was anger and hurt, shook my head and started walking to the exit of the school, deciding to walk home rather than ride with him. I heard him yelling for me and the hard thumps of him running towards me, but I wasn't going to talk to him. Not today. I continued to walk out the door and down the steps.

"Corrie!" I ignored my name, and started walking a little faster. "Corrie, wait!" I started to power walk, but eventually I felt a strong grip on my arm yank me to a stop. "God damn, Corrie! Just stop!" I whipped around and was about to scream at Lance, but I blushed profusely when I realized the person who grabbed me was John, and my brother was frozen in his tracks a couple yards away from us.

"Oh, h-hey, John," I said, smiling, trying to calm myself down. :I thought... I thought you were someone else." I looked down sheepishly at my shoes before making eye contact with him again. John smiled and it made my heart stop just a little bit. "Its okay." He replied, and threw a look back towards Lance. "I thought me and you were going to go get something to eat after school? You chickening out on me now, Corrie?"

I gave him a look, confused but then I caught what he was trying to do, and I smiled. "Nah, I just forgot about that. Yeah, let's go."

I looked over John's shoulder towards Lance, who's jaw was dropped, and was looking between both me and John, and the look of anger and annoyance was definitely evident on his face. I laughed in my head, because I was a nice look to see him pissed. "Go ahead and go home. I'll just see you there,"I yelled at him and turning quickly on my heels, I put my hand into John's and dragged him with me out of the exit of the school.

"Oh my god! Are you serious??" I laughed hard, trying not to choke on my chocolate milkshake.

John scoffed jokingly. "I wouldn't be telling you if I wasn't joking." I laughed so loud and snorted, getting a couple of looks from older couples around us.

I calmed down quickly and smirked at John. "I can't believe that Ms. Wright actually did the bend and snap in front of you! Damn that woman wants to get fired for molesting her students."  Ms. Wright, who is 25 years old, is known for trying to flirt with all of the cute guys in the school, using whorish ways to get what and who she wants, and gaining guys who would practically do anything for her. I mean I've got to hand it to her: She might be a hoe, but at least she gets what she wants out of it and she's a gold digger with sense.

Shoving a french fry in my mouth, I looked around the diner, seeing all the different couples sitting and laughing, making me feel slightly awkward. Here I was sitting with a hot guy, and all I could think about was Lance. Looking down at the table, I twirled a French fry in some ketchup.

"A penny for your thoughts?"

I looked up and giggled a little when I saw John holding a penny in his fingers and wagging his eyebrows.

"You retard," I said, throwing the French fry in my mouth. He just smirked and munched on a couple.

"Well, you zoned out. I asked you about calculus homework, and you just sat there even after I called your name like five times."

I blushed and looked down. "Oh. Whoops, I guess."

He laughed and just smiled. "Don't worry about it. Everyone does it eventually."

I smiled. "But I do that all the time! I can't help but ignore everyone. Its like I have selective hearing."

"VERY selective hearing," he corrected, earning him a slap on the arm. "Ouch."

"Blehhhh...." I stuck my tongue out at him and sipped on my chocolate milkshake, looking at him again appreciatively. He was really something nice to look at. I was honestly curious as to why he didn't have a girlfriend with those looks.

"Poke."

I blinked and cursed. "Dammit, I did it again." He just burst out laughing and I joined in too. We finished off the food and walked back to his car, hopping in and drove in the direction of my house.

"So what do you think bananas are?" He asked out of no where.

I looked at him like he was crazy. "Just answer the question."

I rolled my eyes. "Well It's a fruit." He just chuckled. "I believe that it's a herb."

I turned to look at him. "Oh, hell no. Bananas are FRUIT. Not a herb," I exclaimed.

He shook his head. "On the contrary. Just because you can eat them, doesn't mean you can't use them for other things as well."

I just shook my head. "How about we settle this? I will google the crap." I pulled out my phone, and googled the question, shocked to find out the answer. "Well, I'll be damned."

"It's a herb?"

I chuckled. "We were both right, dumbass. It's a fruit and a herb."

We just laughed and talked all the way to my driveway. He parked and started sobering up from the laugh session.

"Well I guess I'll see you tomorrow at school," he said, looking at me with a smirk.

"Yep." I opened the door, and got out, but turned back around.

"Hey, John?" He looked up. "Yeah?"

I pulled out my music notebook and handed it to him. "Look at them and see what you could do, since you're kind of a musical genius and all."

He just laughed and took the notebook. "Bye." I watched as he pulled away, a smile on my face. I finally turned back around to face the house and sighed. I started my way to the front door, knowing I was gonna get it from Lance.
