Stiles and Corvina were at Derek's loft. No one actually knows what Corvina was, eventhough Scott almost discovered the previous day, Deaton didn't answer, saying i must be something saying he'd look into it.

"They were there for two days, waiting. Hiding. That's what we're taught to do when the Hunters find us-- hide and heal." Cora explains to Stiles beavuse she still can't look Corvina in the eye.

"Okay, so, is two days standard, then, or are we thinking Derek's on, like, some extended getaway?" Stiles was impatient and Cora could see.

"Why do you care?"

Stiles now appalled answers the werewolf "Why do I care??? Let's see... my best friend's tried to kill himself so did she; his boss nearly got ritually sacrificed; a girl that I've known since I was three was ritually sacrificed; Boyd was killed by Alphas... I... Do you want me to keep going? 'Cause I can, all right? For, like, an hour."

"You think Derek can do anything about that?"

"Well, since he's the one everyone seems to be after, it's more like he should do something about it, yeah." Corvina says getting tired as she sits on a couch.

But Cora's face changed into a sad one."I don't know... There's something different about him now. He wasn't like this when I knew him."

"He was a lot like Scott, actually. A lot like most teenagers-- unbearably romantic, profoundly narcissistic, tolerable really only to other teenagers..." Peter enters from a set of stairs and sists on them.

"I'm convinced you live on those stairs." Corvina says concerned of the old man.

"And so what happened? What changed him?" Sfiles asks ignoring Corvina's funny sentence.

"Well, the same thing that changes a lot of young men...A girl." Peter says and Corvina scoffs.

"You're telling me some girl broke his little heart? That's why Derek is the way he is?" Corvina says in disbelief as she rolls her eyes.

"Do you remember Derek, before he was an Alpha, had blue eyes? Do you know why some wolves have blue eyes?" Peter asks Stiles totally ignoring the girl.

"Okay, so if Derek was a sophomore back then, how old was he?" Stiles frowns "How old were you?How old are you now?"

"Old." Corvina says interrupting whatever Peter was about to say and Stiles begins laughing.

"What do you think happened? They were teenagers-- one minute, it's "I hate you, don't talk to me," the next, it's frantic groping in any dark corner they could manage to find themselves alone for five minutes. Their favorite dark corner was an abandoned distillery outside of Beacon Hills." Peter continues telling the story.

"All right, hold up-- how do you know all this? You just said that they were alone." Corvina asks sceptically looking at Peter

"Back then, I wasn't just Derek's uncle. I was his best friend, his closest confidante. That's how I know."

..........

"They keep us connected to humanity. But, they're a secret, even in the pack-- sometimes only the Alpha knows who the Emissary is. Derek and I had no idea about Deaton." Cora says.

"Or his sister, Morrell." Peter adds.

"She's an Emissary, too?" Stiles gasps at the fact

"For the Alpha Pack." Peter emphasizes.

"Our guidance counselor??? Why the hell don't you people tell me any of this stuff, huh??? I shared some really intimate details with her!" Stiles admits akwardly.

"And did she give you good advice?" This time the question was asked by Corvina. Stiles turns to her and nods. "Actually ,yeah."

"That's what they do. That's what Deaton used to do for Talia."

... ......

"Taking an innocent life takes something from you as well... A bit of your soul. Darkening it, dimming the once brilliant golden yellow to a cold, steel blue..." Peter continues tellinv Derek's story.

"What? What's this-what's this look on your face?" Cora makes a disgusted face.

"What look?" Stiles' eyebrow arches as he looks at Cora.

"The kind of look that makes me want to punch you." She spat back and that's what it took for Corvina to snap. She had gotten really protective over Stiles and she didnt know why.
She walked over to her but still keeping her distance "I'd like to see you try." She threatened Cora.

She wasnt scared of her but she wanted to make her feel small. To make her feel weak.

When Cora tried to come at her, she grabbed a small dart that she had hidden somewherr in her body and shot it right on her neck, making Cora fall down, paralysed. "They're laced with Kanima venom." She smirks.

"Haha, GET THAT!" Stiles bursted out making victory signs with his hands, grinning from ear to ear . "You are so Derek's sister."

"All right, in Miss Blake's class, we're reading Heart of Darkness, and it's in first-person, right? Narrated by Marlow. The thing is that he's an unreliable narrator. You know the details of it have changed, you know, just because of his perspective." Stiles continues now more serious.

"So, what...? Are-are you just gonna ask Derek about the girl he fell in love with and then killed?" Peter asks

"If we have to. Yeah." Corvina says.
