Waking me up out of my sleep my phone rings

Waking me up out of my sleep my phone rings. I groan in annoyance, let's see who I have to kill today.

(Just kidding.)

Who the hell could even call someone at, I pause and look over at my side table reading my clock. 6 freaking AM I mean unless they want me to cut their poor head off. I roll over sitting up and rubbing my eyes. I don't have to fully get up till 7 so that made it even worse.

I pick up my phone.

Dad.

"Hello?" my sleepy voice speaks into the phone.

"Hello my dear Angelica, I meant to call you yesterday to see how your second year of college is going but got caught up with work."

"As Usual." I grumble softly.

"What was that hon?"

"I um, it went great dad."

"Good good. Are you still doing that ocean nonsense or have you finally decided to let the fantasy go and get into business?"

I could already feel his smirk on the other line. "Yeah, sure whatever dad."

"Oh come on honey, you know I don't mean it in a bad way but it's seriously time to get a job."

"I don't know dad, with college and everything I-"

"Angelica you're a Avery. It's time you start acting like one."

"Sure, I'll look into one maybe on campus."

"That's my bright girl, now I'll talk to you another time I have some business to get to."

"Not surprised, bye dad."

The other line goes dead.

And that is the exact reason why I hate talking to him. He's all about his stupid business and was always out and away at meetings when I was younger, that's why I've always had a better relationship with my mom than him.

He thought my mom giving me swimming lessons at a young age and setting my mind out at sea was all just a stupid fantasy. He used to say 'Today is the day to build your future, not to sit around and play because that will always be there.'

Which made sense I guess, but I had my dreams set on what I wanted. That's all I wanted him to understand.

I sighed and realized might as well start getting ready for the day.

After finishing a couple of courses it was time for me to have a lunch break. Coming to college was something I wasn't mentally prepared for like I thought I was. The courses are different and hard as hell, the timing schedules are something to get used to and every year gets harder.
