I heard happy giggles from the living room and smiled to myself knowingly. My little nephew was over for a visit and had wrapped my boyfriend around his little finger pretty fast. After I had finished washing the dishes, I walked over to them and leaned in the doorframe, watching the two chase each other around the room. I chuckled and swiftly picked up my nephew as he ran past me. "Bed time", I said softly "Noooooo!", he complained, "I wanna play with Uncle Joshua!" "You can again tomorrow", I gave back and ignored his further protesting as I walked over to my boyfriend, "And now say good night to your Uncle." With a pout, he shook his head and Shua tried to not smile, as he apologizingly shrugged and answered: "If your aunt says it's time to sleep, you should listen to her, buddy." I sent him a thankful look. "Sleep well, little rockstar", he added and ruffled his hair. A bit comforted by it, my nephew smiled softly and mumbled a goodnight, before leaning his head against my shoulder with a big yawn. I left Joshua behind to bring him to bed.

When I came back I had to laugh. My boyfriend had tidied up all the toys that had been laying around and now sat in front of the couch, his head resting on it, eyes closed. He opened one eye as he heard me. "Couldn't manage to get yourself on the couch instead of in front of it?", I asked. "Your nephew has too much energy", he mumbled lazily. I grinned. "Guess why I volunteered for the dishes", I winked at him. Then I pulled out my phone, opened the camera and took a photo of him. "What are you doing?", he asked sleepily. "Telling my brother that his son overpowered my boyfriend", I smirked. He only sighed and admitted to it. "Get up now", I said and offered him a hand, "I got a little surprise for you." Joshua raised an eyebrow and slowly got up.

We went on the terrace where I had turned on our fairy lights and set up a bottle of wine with two glasses as well as some snacks. "As a little compensation for helping me out today", I said softly as he looked at me confused. He smiled and kissed my cheek. "Anytime, princess." I blushed and dragged him to the garden swing next to the table where everything was placed on. After pouring the wine, I handed him over one glass and settled down next to him. He gently put his arm around me to pull me closer and we sat there in silence for a bit, enjoying the wine, the atmosphere, the nightly sounds.

I looked at the stars for quite some time already, more lying on Joshua than leaning onto him. "What do you think about?", he suddenly asked and put his empty glass away. "I'm thinking about something you said as you picked me up from work today", I confessed. "What is it?" "You said, we could just abandon that stupid navigation system if it continues to lead us to blocked roads." "So what?" "Sometimes", I said and sat up to look at him, "I wish I could just do that. Drive anywhere and leave everything behind. Go on an adventure. But then all those obligations like work, family, money and so on remind me that I can't." Joshua looked at me thoughtfully. "You know that you could find a solution to that." "Well, but if I think a bit further, I always realize that it is much less romantic in reality compared to how I imagine it. I love to dream about it. But I wouldn't do it. You get what I mean, don't you?" "Well, Miss Yoon, I did not beg my boss for a different position in the company to stay here with you after I met you at the gala if it wasn't for how much I can understand your point. You can tour the whole world, attend every oh-so-glamorous event, but once you find a beautiful stranger who you fall in love with the same evening, you'd do anything to stay next to her." He kissed my cheek and continued to whisper in my ear: "And I never regretted it. Because after years of not having a real home to come back to, you became my home."

I blushed and he backed up a bit again to smile at me softly. "But if you want to travel around the world, I will gladly come with you", he then said. With a foolish giggle, I buried my face in his chest. "Let's just stay here for now", I mumbled and felt his arms pulling me closer. "Let's do that. For now", he agreed, "And wait for what the future brings. May it be kids, a house and a garden or travelling around the world together. I'll go anywhere with you." "Shua?" "Hmm?" "I love you." "I love you too, princess."
