CHAPTER THIRTY ONE
THUNDERSTORM AND BROKEN BROOMSTICK

"Remember, these visits to Hogsmeade village are a privilege." McGonagall reminded as Emery handed her permission form to Filch, "should your behaviour reflect poorly on the school in any way that privilege shall not be extended again." McGonagall said as Harry ran up to her, "no permission form signed, no visiting the village. That's the rule, Potter."

"All those with permission, follow me. Those without, stay put." Filch instructed, Emery looked at Harry one last time before following Draco.

Snape stormed into the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom much to everyone's confusion, "turn to page 394." Emery grabbed her book and turned to page 394 and furrowed her eyebrows.

"Werewolves?" Emery mumbled under her breath, "where's Professor Lupin?"

"That's not really your concern, is it, Laurier? Suffice it to say your professor finds himself incapable of teaching at the present time. Turn to page 394." Snape said before turning on the projector.

"Sir, we just learned about red caps and hinkypunks." Hermione stated.

"Quiet." Snape warned, "now, which one of you can tell me the difference between an Animagus and a werewolf?" Hermione raised her hand eagerly, "no one? How disappointing."

"Please, sir." Hermione begged, "an Animagus is a wizard who elects to turn into an animal. A werewolf has no choice. With each full moon he no longer remembers who he is. He'd kill his best friend. The werewolf only responds to the call of its own kind." Hermione explained causing Draco to howl jokingly.

"Thank you, Mr. Malfoy. That's the second time you've spoken out of turn, Miss Granger. Are you incapable of restraining yourself or do you take pride in being an insufferable know it all?" Snape asked rhetorically.

"He's got a point, you know." Ron mumbled.

"Five points from Gryffindor." Snape said as Draco passed Harry a note, "as an antidote to your ignorance, and on my deal, by Monday morning...two rolls of parchment on the werewolf, with emphasis on recognising it."

"But sir, it's Quidditch tomorrow." Harry mentioned.

"Then I suggest you take extra care, Mr. Potter. Loss of limb will not excuse you." Snape threatened.

Emery stood in the Slytherin stands watching as Harry tried to catch the Golden Snitch, the pouring rain drenched her raincoat as she shivered from the coldness.

"You cold, Emery?" Draco asked from beside her, Emery nodded in reply. "What a shame." Draco laughed jokingly making Emery roll her eyes.

"I don't know what I expected." Emery sighed to herself before turning her attention back to the game as a fellow Gryffindors player broom set on fire due to the lightening.

Emery looked around confused as she could no longer see Harry, "where's Harry?" Emery asked herself quietly before a figure came falling from the sky.

Emery's eyes widened as she noticed it was her best friend, Dumbledore also noticed the falling figure and stood up yelling out a spell to make Harry's landing safer.

•••

"He looks a bit peaky, doesn't he?" Ron stated as they sat in the hospital wing waiting for Harry to wake up.

"Well, what do you expect? He fell from the sky." Emery said rolling her eyes at Ron.

"Yeah, let's walk you off a tower, Ron, and see what you look like." George joked.

"Probably a right sight better than he normally does." Harry laughed weakly before sitting up.

"How are you feeling?" Hermione asked carefully sitting on the edge of the bed.

"Oh, brilliant." Harry smiled.

"You gave us a right good scare there, mate." George stated as he sat down beside the bed.

"What happened?" Harry questioned.

"Well, you fell off your broom." Ron answered.

"Really? I meant the match. Who won?" Harry asked again.

Hermione looked around awkwardly before standing up, "no one blames you, Harry. Dementors aren't supposed to come inside the grounds. Dumbledores furious. After he saved you, he sent them off." Hermione explained.

"There's something else you should know too." Ron added, "when you fell, your broom sort of blew into the Whomping Willow, and..." Ron trailed off as he unwrapped a now broken broomstick to show Harry the damage.
