CHAPTER NINE DETENTION WITH BAD INTENTIONS
"A pity they let the old punishments die. Was a time detention found you hanging by your thumbs in the dungeons." Filch said as the group followed him towards Hagrid's Hut "god, I miss the screaming..you'll be serving detention with Hagrid tonight. He's got a little job to do inside the Dark Forest." Hagrid let out a sniffle as the group stopped in front of his hut "good god, you're not still on about that bloody dragon, are you?"
"Norbert's gone." Hagrid whined "Dumbledore sent him off to Romania to live in a colony."
"That's good, isn't it? He'll be with his own kind." Hermione stated
"But why if he don't like Romania? What if the other dragons are mean to him? He's only a baby after all.." Hagrid argued
"For gods sake, pull yourself together. You're going into the forest." Filch reasoned
"The forest? I thought that was a joke. We can't go in there. Students aren't allowed. And there are..." Draco trailed off as a wolf howled from inside the forest "...werewolves."
"What? Scared, Malfoy?" Emery teased "plus, there's more than just werewolves in those trees." Draco glared as Emery as Filch walked away towards the castle, Hagrid led the group into the forest
Hagrid bent down and touched a silvery goo that was on the ground
"Hagrid, what is that?" Harry questioned
"What we're here for. See that?" Hagrid held up his goo covered fingers "that's unicorn blood, that is. I found one dead a few weeks ago. Now, this one's been hurt bad by something. So it's our job to go and find the poor beast. Ron, Hermione, come with me. And, Harry and Emery, you'll go with Malfoy." Emery grimaced
"Seriously?" Emery groaned

"Wait till my father hears about this. This is servant's stuff." Draco complained
"You'll fit right in, than." Emery laughed
"If I didn't know better, Draco. I'd say you were scared." Harry stated
"Scared, Potter?" Draco scoffed before turning around at the sound of a wolf howling "do you hear that?"
"Yeah, I can hear the nerves of a scared little boy." Emery replied as they continued to walk until suddenly Draco stopped in his tracks causing Emery to bump into him "what is it this time?" Emery looked towards where Harry and Draco were looking and saw a unicorn lying lifeless on the floor, Draco let out a shrill scream and grabbed Emery's hand without warning and running he opposite direction leaving Harry alone.

Emery caught up with the Golden Trio the next day as they made their way towards Hagrid's Hut
"Of course." Harry said in realisation before walking faster
"What is it?" Hermione asked
"Don't you think it's a bit odd that what Hagrid wants more than anything is a dragon...and a stranger turns up and just happens to have one? I mean, how many people wander around with dragon eggs? Why didn't I see it before?" Harry explained before running towards Hagrid "who gave you the dragon egg?" Harry asked urgently "what did he look like?"
"I don't know. I never saw his face. He kept his hood up." Hagrid answered honestly
"You and this stranger must have talked." Harry urged
"Well, he wanted to know what sort of creatures I looked after. I told him, I said "After Fluffy, a dragons gonna be no problem." Hagrid replied
"Did he seem interested in Fluffy?" Harry inquired
"Of course he was interested in Fluffy. How often do you come across a three headed dog? But I told him, "the trick with any beast is to know how to calm him." Take Fluffy, for example. Play him a bit of music and he falls straight asleep." The group looked at each other with wide eyes "I shouldn't have told you that." The group quickly ran back towards the castle ignoring Hagrid's calls as they ran towards McGonagall office
"We have to see Dumbledore. Immediately!" Harry exclaimed as he ran towards McGonagall
"I'm afraid he's not here. He received an urgent owl from the Ministry of Magic and left for London." McGonagall explained
"He's gone? But this is important! This is about the Philosopher's Stone." Harry admitted making McGonagall's eyes go wide "someone's going to try and steal it."
McGonagall glanced at the other three, "I don't know how your four found out about the stone, but I assure you it is well protected. Now would you go back to your dormitories? Quietly." Harry sighed in defeat and turned around, quietly leaving the office, his friends following slowly.
"That was no stranger Hagrid met. It was Snape." Harry told his friends as they stopped outside McGonagall's office "which means he knows how to get past Fluffy."
"And with Dumbledore gone—" Hermione started
"Good afternoon." Snape's voice cut her off "now, what would four young first years, such as yourselves be doing inside on a day like this?" Hermione stuttered "you ought to be careful. People will think you're..." Snape looked towards Emery "...up to something." Snape walked away from the group
"Now what do we do?" Hermione questioned
"We go down the trap door." Harry answered simply "Tonight."
