Brimsley awoke that next morning turning over to face the pillow beside him expecting to see a sleeping Reynolds. However, he was disappointed to find the pillow cold and empty. He did not know when Reynolds had left, presumably when Brimsley had fallen asleep. Glumly, Brimsley swung his leads, letting his feet hit the crimson carpet that adorned his floor. Reminding himself that he was to meet Reynolds today to discuss the plan for the royal wedding, he stumbled out of bed to dress for the day that awaited him.

In four days time, Princess Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, Germany would arrive on English soil to marry her king. There was much to set up before she arrived and not a moment to waste.

Sliding on his crimson waistcoat, Brimsley rushed to the dining room, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and the scent of eggs and toast waiting for him.

Brimsley rushed across the marble floors of the palace, past servants and maids, to their designating location to meet, the ballroom. Around him, gold-trimmed walls and intricate designs in the wallpaper. Above him, pure crystal chandeliers hung down like clear rain and murals of heaven. He imagined the many men and women who would dance upon the marble floor in front of him, gowns of lace and silk twirling beside their partners.

"Good morning," Reynolds resisted a grin.

"Good morning," Brimsley noticed the many servants setting up the ballroom for the dance after the wedding, "sir." They both held back a laugh, Brimsley covering it with a cough and Reynolds clearing his throat.

Throughout the day, Brimsley and Reynolds delved deep into the intricacies of the post-wedding dance. They meticulously planned every step, every song that would be played, every type of dance, and the place where the king and queen would be.

With each passing day, everyone's excitement grew exponentially. The palace buzzed with anticipation as the grand event drew closer. As the week progressed, they discussed everything from the floral arrangements to the guest list. Every minute was examined for the wedding day, with no detail too big to discuss. They collaborated with the king and queen's court, everyone inputting expectations for the royal wedding.

The grandeur of the day hung in the air as Brimsley made his way to the front of the palace, his heart pounding in his chest with anticipation and nerves. The sun's golden rays bathed the landscape, casting a warm glow upon the palace as if nature itself was celebrating this momentous occasion.

Brimsley's steps carried a hint of eagerness, propelling him forward towards meeting the soon-to-be Queen of England and Ireland. He took a moment to compose himself, his hand instinctively reaching for the buttons on his waistcoat, ensuring that every detail was impeccable. His attire, meticulously chosen to reflect his respect and admiration for the queen, draped his figure with an air of dignity and elegance.

As he approached the designated meeting spot, the world around him seemed to fade into the background, his focus narrowing to the upcoming encounter with Princess Charlotte. The soft breeze carried with it a hint of anticipation as if even the elements around him were aware of the meeting.

Brimsley's heart skipped a beat as he caught sight of the princess, her radiance making her the centre of attention. The grace and poise she exuded were ethereal, captivating him with a single glance.

A swirl of emotions coursed through Brimsley's veins, his thoughts racing in his mind filled with the possibilities that lay ahead. He greeted Princess Charlotte with a respectful nod, his voice steady as he offered warm words of welcome. His caramel eyes sparkled with admiration.

And so, in that momentous meeting, Brimsley embarked on a new phase of his journey, where his dedication, skill, and unwavering commitment would be put to the test. The path ahead was uncertain, yet he carried within him a steadfast determination to serve the queen and the kingdom, his heart brimming with gratitude for the opportunity to be a part of something greater than himself.

The royal wedding went splendidly, every moment infused with ethereal magic. The palace glowed with a warm radiance, its halls adorned with delicate flowers and flickering candlelight. The joyous celebration echoed through the halls, enveloping all who bore witness to the union of King George and Queen Charlotte.

Their chemistry was undeniable, their connection palpable to all who witnessed. With each glance, each touch, they painted a picture of regal love and devotion.

However, in the heat of the moment, they argued over the King's decision to leave the Queen's estate and retreat to Kew, a decision that left Reynolds and Brimsley longing for a night together.

As the King departed for Kew, leaving behind the Queen and the chance to be reunited with Reynolds, a wave of melancholy washed over Brimsley. The dream of sharing one more night with Reynolds seemed like an elusive mirage, fading into the distant horizon. Yet, amidst the heartache and unfulfilled longing, Brimsley held onto a flicker of hope. He knew he would meet with Reynolds again. The King would fix his wrongs with the queen and they would soon be reunited.

As the days turned into weeks, Brimsley and Reynolds found solace in the stolen moments they shared. Though brief, their time together was filled with unspoken affection and a love that transcended the constraints of their circumstances.

Amidst the tumultuous journey, they traversed, a glimmer of hope emerged on the horizon. King George and Queen Charlotte, having weathered their own storm, put the past behind them and chose to embrace their union in all its complexities. In this newfound commitment, the possibility of a lifetime with Reynolds became a tantalizing prospect. The possibility that was so near and seemed real. It was finally possible, they were going to grow old together serving their Majesties...right?
