The Sodor and Mainland railway opened in 1861 and ordered 3 Neilson box tanks to run it's line.
These were Neil, Clive, and Matteo (also known as Matthew)
In 1889, two new engines arrived, Kate, a Great Western Experimental Prototype, and Dane, a GER Y14 numbered 1020

Dane was an introverted but also kind engine.
They operated the S&M's Peel Godred Branch from 1889-1914. In 1905, the railway's Number 5 and 6 arrived, Whiff and Hawin.
