RECAP:
"i actually have something to say— but i wasn't sure if this was the best timing..."
"what is it?"
————
he opens his mouth but i stop him.
"wait! whatever you are going to say... just wait!" i state.
"uh... why?" he asks in a confused manner.
"i just had this gut feeling that this isn't the right place, or time. like a spidey-tingle, i swear." i explain, partly confused at myself for the abrupt feeling.
"alright... then i guess it can wait." jaemin sighs in what could be both relief and disappointment.
"why don't we just stay here for a bit... and watch the the sunset?" i suggest, reaching out and grabbing his larger hand to pull him with me.
i sit myself down on the floor, leaning against the wall and drag him down with me so that we are facing the open windows.
neither of us make a move to let each other's hands go, so we sit like this as we admire the beautiful sky change colors as the sun passes the horizon.
radiant oranges, yellows, and pinks paint the night sky until the peak of the sun disappears leaving darkness behind.
"hey, jaem?" i speak up.
"yeah, min?" he responds.
"can i tell you a secret?" i ask sleepily.
"only if you want..." he replies.
"...sergeant kim...is my older sister." i say.
"i kind of assumed that alreay, love." he chuckles.
"really?" i turn to face him. "i thought i hid it pretty well..."
"you did. but 1) i'm just really observant— and 2) you share the same last name and kind of look alike." he smiles.
"oh? i never thought we ever did look like sisters— maybe in other people's eyes, we do?..." i claim.
"can i ask why it was a secret in the first place? i mean, she's your sister..." he insists.
"i just didn't want anyone to think i was getting better or extra treatment because she's one of our squadron leaders. plus, when i had my mom sign the consent form, i thought she'd been assigned somewhere... not here. so she didn't know i'd be here either." i explain.
