TIME SKIP
the university entrance exams have resumed after two years. it is predicted to be the toughest exam year ever. in addiction, it's still unclear how students' participation during war will be assessed. concerned voices continue to spread throughout the nation.
the once demolished high school is now repaired. the front gate draped with a banner welcoming incoming students for their exam. and with it, a crowd of protestors speaking up for their young ones, wishing them good luck.
in exam room 1, the all familiar laughter of zhong chenle bounces off the walls. a wide smile spread across former squadron privates- kim minjoo, na jaemin, huang renjun, lee donghyuck, and lee jeno.
months after the military taking control over the responsibilities of keeping the spheres at bay, all remaining squadrons were discharged from after school duties. the students were lead to the bunkers where the city was evacuated to. they would spend months underground, reuniting with family that they thought they had lost, sending support to the families of their lost friends as well as creating proper memorials.
during these months would they finally find peace and no longer bear the weight of grief and fear over their shoulders.
and when the city was deemed safe, they went to their respective homes. but once again reunited, after more months of repairing what had been destroyed in their homes or neighborhoods, when the school was up and running again.
contrary to what many citizens were rioting about, this group of privates couldn't wait to go back to school to meet again.
back in the exam room, pencils scratch and erasers leave residue upon the sheets of paper.
time is up, and the pencils are put down. exams are collected, and sighs of relief leave the student's lips.
"we did it." minjoo smiles, walking out of the room with jaemin's arm around her shoulder.
"i say we celebrate!" donghyuck cheers.
"at mj's house!!" renjun cheers along.
"yay!!" minjoo starts. "wait- what?!"
"no take backs!" the renhyuck duo cackle before running ahead.
"this is why there is no use in raising children." jaemin sighs.
"we should probably go find them before they get up to no good." jeno says, like a tired mom would.
"yup- let's go." minjoo fastens their pace until they reach the courtyard.
"i hear there's a party at minjoo's?" mark who stands with the others calls out to the three that approach them.
"the other's can't make it, so its just us eight." chenle explains.
"i'm in need of a drink-" jisung mumbles.
"awww our baby jisungie is all grown up!" donghyuck squeezes the younger's cheeks.
"i take that back! i need to get drunk to be able to deal with this annoying brat." jisung explains.
"you and me both." renjun replies with the roll of his eyes.
"let's go. are you guys coming or not?" minjoo questions as she walks away while the others are busy bickering.
"wait for us!!" they shout and run after her.

minjoo's living room now became the main hangout space for the eight of them.
the jaejoo couple are cuddling on the couch. jisung has his nose stuck to his phone. renjun sits at the coffee table playing jenga with donghyuck and jeno. all the while, chenle and mark play bowling on the nintendo.
it is safe to say... it was chaos.
"you guys are so loud oh my god." the familiar voice of the older kim sister walks in the house.
"minha!!" minjoo waves happily.
"i'm only stopping by for a bit. i have plans tonight." she smiles, telling the younger girl.
"oohhhhh is it with taeyong hyung?!" chenle asks being nosy as usual.
"yes... it actually is." minha replies shyly.
"i'm happy for you sis! have fun tonight!" minjoo exclaims as she watches her sister go into her room, most likely to change.
"hey-" minjoo hears jaemin's gentle voice, and looks to him.
"yeah? what is it babe?" minjoo questions, intertwining their hands.
"i just thought... after all this time... i haven't asked an important question." he starts.
"and what question would that be?" she raises her brow, a small smirk on her lips.
"to make it official- will you be my girlfriend kim minjoo?" he smiles brightly.
"of course." she giggles. "my boyfriend."
"i love you, my girlfriend." jaemin says with his lips tugged upwards.
"did you hear that guys?" mark interrupts.
"JAEJOO IS OFFICIAL!!" donghyuck shouts out with happiness.
"CHEERS TO THAT!!" mark raises up his cup, the others following suit.
"HERE'S TO JAEJOO AND TO THE FUTURE!!" donghyuck woops.
