"WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME!" Edward screamed out.
I thought Edward had needed a mothers love ever since I met him. The day I told him about my turning of Esme, however, he was outraged.
He knew that I had started to care for her more than anything. Was it that he though that I would start to forget him or something? I mean I could never do that to any of my children and, they know that.
"Edward just calm down. I will still care for you son, but so will Esme. Just like me she wants to be your parental figure because...Well, face it Edward, you still need a mother and father taking care of you."
"I DON'T WANT A MOTHER!"
"It's not up for discussion Edward. Esme wants a husband and child ,young or old, and we shall fill that position. Plus I will not leave her in the hospital. I kept you when I turned you, didn't I?"
He looked at me and mumbled, "You had to."
"I didn't have to do anything Edward. In fact I could've left you in that hospital bed to die, but I didn't. I knew when I looked into you eyes, just like I did Esme's, that I wanted us to be in a family."
"I don't need a family."
"Yes you do. You're still a boy wether you want to believe so or not," I heard a door shut outside, with tiny footsteps following it, "now shape up, she's here."
Edward looked at me and huffed. I watched him walk over to the staircase and sit down at the top of it. He could be such a child. As I heard the knocking on the door, I rushed to it. There, standing behind to hollow wood, was my beautiful wife Esme. I could tell she was excited to finally be out of the hospital and live a long eternity with me.
"Hello love," I smiled down to her.
"Hello darling. How was he when you to him the news?"
I looked down and sighed. I pulled her closer to whisper in her ear so Edward couldn't hear.
"He's been taking it rough. All morning he was saying that he didn't need a mother because he only need me. He has a problem with change, so don't take that to heart. What he says right now, is all a lie. You can tell just by looking at him that he needs motherly care." She nodded.
"Edward, will you please come down here?" Nothing.
"Edward come down now. Esme would like to meet you. " Again nothing.
"Edward if you are not down here by the time I get to three, you will not be able to sit down for a few a weeks." Nothing.
"One."
"Two."
Footsteps were running down. The stairs.
"I'm here. I'm here."
"I expect you to answer the first time I call you. Are we understood?"
"Yes sir."
"Good," I smiled, "Son I would like you to meet Esme. She will be your new mother."
He shook his head 'no' frowning, "I don't need a mother."
"Again Edward, you have no decision."
Esme stepped closer to him, "It's very nice to meet you Edward. If it would be okay with you, I would love to be your new mother. I promise to protect you and love you."
"I'm going to my room."
With that he went up the stairs. I had a feeling this would happen. Edward was just being stubborn as usual.
"I'm sorry about him. He's honestly not like this," I apologized to Esme.
"It's quite alright. He's just not ready to have another parent on the house. After all, you two have been together for almost twenty years. You've formed a tight bond with each other and he doesn't want anyone joining. "
I smiled at Esme and took her hand. We walked into the living room area of the house and sat. We talked for hours upon hours. We spoke about our previous life, to our future, to our Edward, and even his life.
"We should probably go check on him," Esme said concern.
"I'll go and check," I replied.
She nodded. As I walked upstairs into his room, I was astonished. He ran away. When I returned to Esme devastated, I told her the news. For the next hour we were comforting each other. I wondered one thing;
Will I ever get to see my son again?
While Esme kept on mumbling:
My poor baby boy. I just want him to come back home.
