Carlisle:
As I looked down at the sleeping form on my chest, all I could do was smile. Edwards dirty blonde hair was everywhere, in which you could hardly see his little face. Lately ,however, he's not been acting right. Then again, he could just be nervous about his first day of school.
A few weeks ago, I decided to enroll Edward to a head start program. I know he probably wouldn't need this due to his high IQ for his age, but he needs to be around kids his age. I mean yes, when he's older he'll most likely will become a vampire, but that doesn't mean he shouldn't have childhood companions. I just hope the girls handle it okay.
By the time Edward awoken, it was time to get him ready. I quickly changed him and put him in a pair of short talls adding little rain boots on his feet. I gently put his jacket on him and right before we left Esme and I fed him his breakfast. On the way to the school, Edward had fallen back to sleep in his stroller causing us to smile. Before we knew it, we arrived at the building.
Esme gently picked up the toddler and stroked his hair whispering in his ear. "My little one, it's time to wake up sleepy head. "
Edward, being as stubborn as he is, shook his head no.
"Please Edward? We can get ice cream afterwards if you're a good boy. "
I soon heard a small huff and he looked up at her nodding his head. As we walked into the building, I heard the chattering and giggling of children.
"Hello, you must be Mr. and Mrs. Cullen," I turned my head to see a young girl maybe in her early twenties.
"Yes that's us and this is our son Edward. "
"Isn't he just a doll?" she giggled," I just need you two to sign this paper and then we'll be ready to start the day. "
Esme and I quickly wrote down our names while smiling at Edward. When we handed her the paper I could see Edward on the verges of tears.
"What's wrong buddy?" I asked
"Don't want daddy and mummy to go," he sniffles
Our hearts melted. "Baby it'll only be 4 hours. I'll be here before you know it," Esme assured.
"B-but I'll misses you," he sniffles once more
"Oh darling, I'll miss you too, but I know that you're my lion and that you're strong and brave. With those two qualities, you can accomplish anything."
"Really?" He looks at the both of us.
"Of course. " we replied in unison.
Edward nodded. Soon the worker took him to go play, and we soon left.
Eleven o'clock was beginning to approach and with that we got ready to get Edward. As we walked down the street ,with stroller in tow, we quickly made it there.
"Hello Mr. and Mrs. Cullen, Edward was wonderful today. "
"Really? That's great to hear. I hope he had fun. " Esme remarked
"He was the happiest little boy in the room today," I smiled at that," let me go get him."
Just like that, she left for a split second coming in with a tired Edward. As soon as he saw us he reached for us. Esme picked him up. "There's my little lion. Did you have a good day?"
Edward simply nodded while rubbing his eyes. "Sorry that he's so tired, he just woke up from a little nap. "
"It's fine," I replied as Esme put Edward in the stroller and tucked him in.
I looked at her and smiled," it'll probably be best to get him to the ice cream shop. "
"Yep," she smiles taking my hand and while helping me push the stroller.
"See you tomorrow Mr. and Mrs. Cullen. "
