Esme and I exchanged smiles while looking at our Edward. He was in between us entertaining himself with our hands. However, I want to know why he's acting so, so different. Before he left he was a healthy, in vampire terms, seventeen year old. Now, it's as if his mind has regressed into a small child. The last time I've seen him like this, was when he was on his death bed. Even then it wasn't this bad.
As I looked down at him, something was odd in his looks. He still had his bronze hair, skin was still pale, wasn't very tall, and then it hit me. His eyes were not those of a vampires, but ones of a mortals. I couldn't believe this. I've only seen this happen once and when it did, that person lost his memory. My poor Edward has no memory. It all makes since. Who could've done this though? When this happened to the last person, I was working with the Voltori and Ciaus commenced it. Everything is starting to make more since.
"Daddy?" I was pulled out of my thought to hear Edward.
"Yes honey?" I looked down.
"I'm cold."
"I think we'll have to fix that then, huh?" With that said, I tucked him under the comforter. I ran my hand through his hair as Esme hummed. Soon there was a little yawn.
"I think we have a sleepy baby," replied Esme.
I nodded and kissed the top of his head. Slowly his eyes dropped close and he was out like a light.
"Esme, I think Edward went to Italy and lost his memory there. I remember while working over there that Ciaus had that power, and ever since I introduced him and Edward they've been head and head at it. I'm not sure if that is true, however. So until I can fix it, we have a little boy. "
"My poor baby. I promise to make this time better for him."
I nodded smiling. "I have enough vacation days up to last me a year, so I'll be right beside you the whole way. "
We slowly got out of the bed trying not to wake him, and walked into the kitchen. I cleaned the dishes while Esme made lunch for Edward. I could tell things were going to be different until things were put back to normal.
I smiled at Esme. I soon walked behind her and wrap my arms around her waist and twirled her around.
"I love you Esme."
She laughed, "I love you too."
With that I kissed her. I made the right choice in marrying her.
"Carlisle we need to go to the market today and get groceries for Edward."
"Okay. We can go after he wakes up and eats something. "
"Okay. I'll go get some clothes for him. Will you get him up and fed?"
"Sure honey."
As I got up to get him I heard Esme stop and gasp in front of the staircase.
"Esme what is it?"
She pointed, so I went around her to look. There standing in front of us, holding a blanket, was a little boy that resemble our Edward. I kneeled down to him.
"Edward?"
He looked up at me sucking his thumb. I smiled at him listening to Esme coo, I walked over to her and whispered,
" There should be toddler clothes in the attic. Sometimes my patients with sick babies come over, and accidentally leave there little ones clothes."
She nods, and leaves to go get them. I knelt back down and smiled at Edward.
"Hey buddy. Are you hungry?"
He looked up at me and nodded. I picked him up resting him on my hip. As soon as we go to the kitchen I made him a plate and had him sit on my lap.
While I fed him I looked closer at him. Dark green eyes, black eyelashes, light pink lips, and a slight pink to his cheeks. Unlike his usual bronze hair, it was now blonde and in curls. He's probably one of the most beautiful little boys I've ever seen.
"Come on Eddy. Just one more big bite, then you, mommy, and I can go out to the market and get groceries. "
He smiled and finished his lunch. I carried him upstairs and smiled.
Esme was already waiting for us at the bed. I took the over sized pajamas he was wearing and put the blanket he was holding to side. After I laid him on the bed, Esme got to work. I watched as she put him in a cloth nappy and put a shirt, trousers, and suspenders on him. I smiled at him. She then started packing the diaper bag, and I went into the attic and pulled down a bassinet. When I got back down, they were ready to head out.
After laying Edward in it, and tucking him in with a stuff lion, Esme pushed him out of the house. We walked down the sidewalk and smiled at the compliments we received about Edward. We walked into the farmers market and I bought everything Esme asked me to get, while she entertained Edward.
On our way home I saw that our door was unlocked and two cars were parked behind mine. I helped Esme with the bassinet and walked inside while she got Edward out and put the groceries up.
"Hello?"
"Carlisle we're in here," said a males voice. I walked into the living room and there in front of me was.......CLIFF HANGER!
