It is the next day.

It pains Y/n to see the lair as her home and soon it will no longer be that way. She has had many great moments with this lair and she didn't want to leave, but if she and her family had to leave, then that's what will happen.

Today, Donnie and Leo are going to salvage some new parts for the truck to ensure it runs better than it ever has in the past.

Leonardo packed up extra silent weapons with a handgun on his hip, ammo, food, and other additional supplies on his shell. Donatello did the same thing when it came to supplies, but he is more overdramatic with it and overpacks.

Y/n wore her clothing of choice; (describe your apocalypse outfit). And she was not going to forget the most important thing-- her weapon; (weapon of choice). She doesn't leave the lair without it/them. When she was ready, she gave Leo and Donnie a short nod and they were exiting the lair within seconds and of course, they did it cautiously.

Every time Y/n left her safe spot, she got an adrenaline rush throughout her body, but in rare cases, a ton of anxiety. Whenever she saw the city in the condition it was in, it was hard to take in. She remembered this popular city being lively with chatter, cars, and so many smells, and it was awake every single second of the day. It never slept. She missed hearing the horns from vehicles, people chatting and scatting... then the nasty smells of garbage or food would make her gag or swoon over such a fragrance... it's all dead.

Everything.

She sighed. "A brand new day."

"Yeah," Donnie said, coming out of the manhole and setting the cover back over it. "Come on, guys. We gotta find as many supplies as possible before infected roam this way." He jogged out of the alley with Leo and Y/n their weapons ready for any kind of threat.

They wandered the city for a few minutes, not slowing down into a walk until it was necessary. Donatello spotted a pharmacy store that hadn't been touched in a very long time and surprisingly hadn't been seen by him or his family since the apocalypse. "Look over here. Leo, remember April said he needed some pills for her abdominal cramps?"

"Jeez, way to put it out in the open, Don" Y/n says, following them to the doors. While Don and Leo peer into the windows of the pharmacy, she keeps a lookout for any foes that might be lurking around the streets full of plants and garbage.

Donnie chuckled. "Sorry, but it's a real, not a myth." he cupped his hands to the window of the glass to see if there was anyone inside or supplies worth taking. "I see some stuff in there."

"Well, then let's hurry." Y/n nudged one of the Brothers. "The more we stand out here the more it gives me the creeps. I still haven't gotten over how quiet it is now..."

Leo opened the door of the pharmacy, entering quietly with Don and Y/n behind him, holding up their weapons. So far, there is nothing in here except for some abandoned supplies. The three of them sigh in relief, finally straightening up their backs and taking a look around. "So," Y/n says aloud to the two brothers. "Since we spoke of leaving the city, when will we tell the others? Where will we go?"

Donnie shoved some allergy medication, painkillers, cough syrup, and other additional meds. "I haven't thought of anything until now, but... maybe a farmhouse? Another city? Well... I dunno."

Leo is looking behind the counter, taking old prescriptions of medications and putting those in his bag. "We'll find somewhere. Maybe we'll stay in New York."

"Those spores in the sewers are kinda scary to think about." Y/n says to Leo and Donnie, taking out her flashlight and turning it on. "Once you inhale it, you're dead." She takes some feminine products from the shelf along with some band aids, and then... well, rubbers. Next, she saw the Plan-B pill and pregnancy tests. She took those because she noticed that April has been a little off with her health recently. Nothing related to the infection, but just being a little under the weather and hardly eating like she used to. Y/n figured it was appropriate to bring this up. "Did, uh... you notice April is acting different?"

"Different, how?" Leo asked.

"Well, she threw up three days ago and didn't want to eat the canned spinach."

Don and Leo exchange glances at each other when they hear Y/n's recent observations. "April is acting that way?" Leo looks at Y/n from across the room.

"Yeah," Y/n says, holding her flashlight on the shelf. "I dunno, well... she and Casey have been messing around I'd say at like 2 in the morning."

Lightly chuckling and shaking their heads, they realized that April might be getting it on with Casey during the late hours of the night to avoid embarrassment, but they lost their smirks as soon as everything settled. April could be pregnant with Casey's baby if she's acting abnormal.

Setting this subject to the side for now, Y/n explored more of the pharmacy, looking around the floor until she found a notebook on the floor near the wall with a pillow and blanket. She plucked the notebook up from the floor and opened it up to the first page, finding a survivor's note.

Y/n  shut the notebook and placed it into her bag for later. Who knows if this note could lead somewhere such as a new home or a new friend. It could be a start.

After a few minutes more, Donnie and Leo grabbed what they could for their supplies and led on the supply run in search of some vehicle parts for the garbage truck in the lair.

They need to figure out a way to tell the others because if they don't within a few hours or a day, they won't have time to pack. And the spores will reach them, giving them the death sentence that all survivors are supposed to be destined for.
