Yasin and Saba – 'What's meant to be will find its way?

By @Sumaiya_Yoosuf

Yasin POV

I could not help but admire the art in front of me. It was beautiful but demonstrated contrary feelings of happiness and sadness within the picture. Was it referring to the statement 'Every cloud has a silver lining?

My love for art could never be described in mere words. After all, it led me to her! Although I lost her afterwards. I made a quick dua

'Ya Allah, please accept all of Saba's duas that are good for her! Give her all the happiness in the world to help cope with the heartbreak we faced.'

Then I heard it. A whisper 'Yasin'

There she was clothed in a simple yet elegant Red abhaya and Beige scarf. I dropped my gaze down.

'She is not your mahram Yasin' I reminded myself. 'Assalamualikum'

'Walaikum salaum' She replied

'How are you?' We asked simultaneously. We locked gazes and there was a moment of silence between us.

'Can we talk privately Yasin?' She politely requested.

'I should respect our Islamic boundaries, Saba. I do not think it's right' I replied dejectedly. The truth was I was terrified! How could I speak to her again without falling in love again?

'What if you become my maharam by Nikkah?' questioned Saba timedly, making me look at her sharply.

The art exhibition long forgotten, we walked to a nearby cafè 'United'.

There was a silence once again, but it was not awkward, rather it was comforting.

'We underestimate our parents' love for us Yasin. My father did not let me go through with the Nikkah; when he realized it was not going to be consensual. People tend to forget that we are asked consent thrice before signing the Nikkah Nama. Once you told me that if I have any feelings for you; you will fight for me? Is that still an option? Would you still want me in my life? If you say no, I won't get upset and I will walk away, I...

Before Saba could continue, I interrupted her, ' I think we should involve our parents. After all, we need their acceptance and guidance to proceed with the Rishta talks.' I still could not believe the conversation we just had!

Third Person Pov

It was like seeing her for the first time but - much better. After all, there she was, adorned as his bride in a Red heavy lehenga and Beige scarf. Finally, she was in his nikkah.

Yasin could not believe his heartbeat and neither could Saba as she slipped her hand into his. After all, they were always meant to be together. Allah had destined them for each other. Feelings of excitement and nervous to start a life together overwhelmed the newly-wed.

Yasin and Saba finally understood the depth behind the words 'Sabar ka Phal Meetha Hota Hai' After all, it proved right for both of them!

'Sabar ka Phal Meetha Hota Hai' literally translates to 'The fruits of Patience is Sweet'. It means that patience pays off.
