Babysitter

I've gotten used to always traveling with Giggles, however today Giggles is going on a solo journey.
"But why can't I come with you?" I ask my voice breaking.
"Norman I wish I could bring you but it's dangerous for you, the entities there aren't like us, they won't understand and will try to hurt you" Giggles tells me.
"But I don't wanna be alone" I begin to tear up.
"You won't be alone Norman, I've asked Ms. Penny to watch over you and the others, you'll be ok".
"But Ms. Penny hates me" now I'm crying and holding onto Giggles refusing to let him go.
"Ms. Penny doesn't hate you she just needs more time to adjust to you".
I simply cry and hug Giggles and they hug me back trying to soothe me.
"What's going on here?" I don't turn around I know who it is.
"Ah Penny Norman's...." Giggles begins to speak but I can't pay attention anymore.(he can't leave without me. I don't want them to go........)
"Norman I'll only be gone a few days and then I'm coming back after that"
". . .do you promise?"
"I promise, I'll be back soon" they hug me tighter this time and I hug him back. Giggles pulls away from the hug first as he stands up. I hold onto them but he pulls away to head off and I'm left standing there watching them walk farther and farther until he's long out of sight and I'm simply waiting, hoping they'll return.
"Hey kid." I turn to look at Ms. Penny and she gives me an almost sympathetic look before switching to her normal glare.
"You need to eat twice a day right?"
I nod as an answer.
"Well when do you eat?" She seems to be slightly annoyed.
"I eat once every time after I wake up and once before I go to sleep..."
"Alright and what does Giggles feed you?"
"Birthday cake, smoothies, candy-"
"Never mind you're coming to my level to get some real food" she says as she grabs my hand pulling me along behind her.

Time skip because I'm lazy af

When we arrive at Ms. Penny's level  I'm amazed. The whole place is filled with tall and thick trees with dark wood. She brings me towards a small cottage where there's  a fire pit in front of it. She walks me over to one of the stumps and sits me down as she goes inside to gather a few things. She comes back out to light the fire pit and put a pot of what I assume to be water over it. She begins placing ingredients in the pot and I feel something watching me. I turn around and I see a little bird on the ground staring up at me.
"Uhm.. hello?"
"Chirp" the bird hops towards me and climbs onto my palm. I smile as the bird leans into my hand while I pet it.

Ms. Penny's pov:
I look over at the normie human and see him with Marigold. I watched as they played, the kid seemed so... innocent...so... happy. I remember when everything used to be like that with him. He was always so happy until.....
"I see Marigold has taken a liking to you"
"Oh that's your name! What a pretty name" he begins to pet the bird again, the bird chirps in response.
"Who long have you had her?" he asks me.
"She's not mine" I say as I stir the soup.
"Well than who's is she?"
"She was my brothers" I answer.
"Was...? What happened?" he gets up and walks over to me with the bird still in his hands.
"....Humans" He stops clearly surprised but he stays silent.
"They came to retrieve us for experimentation but we wouldn't comply. We tried to defend ourselves but....Some died and some were taken... they didn't let us keep the dead they took them all, now only a few of us are left" I begin to add more things to the soup while Norman watches, frozen with shock.
"I'm sorry" he tears up a bit.
"Why are you sorry, you didn't take them"
"But what if I did, I can't remember anything for all we know I could've- I could've " he starts to breath heavily but I kneel down next to him.
"Hey. I'm only gonna say this once so listen up." He looks up at me with tears threatening to spill over.
"You're not a bad person. You're just a kid and I was rude alright. And I don't like seeing you cry so stop it" I reach down to wipe the tears off his face.
*sniff*"so you don't hate me?"
"No I don't hate you, you stupid Normie" he smiles at me and after that we have a peaceful evening. We ate our soup and he played with Marigold and then we fell asleep.
