Chapter 8

Jae's POV

The weather started to change, we could feel that summertime was over. I had a blank spot in my schedule for the first time in weeks and decided to sit in the backyard to enjoy the cool breeze for a while. The sun was shining bright and I leaned back on the bench letting the warmth spread throughout my face and my chest. The sensation was beyond satisfying. A moment of peace.

Days have passed and I still haven't decided whether to accept the new job at KSE or not. It was not an easy decision to make. Berta said I should go if I really wanted to, but I wasn't really sure if that was the right thing to do. And there were so many things I have on my mind now, so many things to think about...

"Great day today, huh?!"

I didn't need to open my eyes to know who was talking to me. That unmistakable deep voice. "Yes, it is." I didn't bother to open my eyes. Part of me was still embarrassed about what happened in his car last time.

"Can I ask you something?" He asked, taking a seat by my side.

May I say no? I really didn't want to have a conversation at that moment. "Sure..." I answered against my will.

"Will you take the job at KSE?"

I should have said no... I inhaled deeply. Why did he have to talk about that? "I already have a job, Nyan. I know, it is a big opportunity... but I can't leave Berta... She is my best friend, and she ... she... I already told you what I think, Nyan."

"Yeah, I know. But she told you to go, right? She wants you to live your dream. To live your life. And I could use a friend there..."

"So you are going?"

"Maybe... The money is really good, you know? I thought you would like to work with those idols..."

"I don't care about the money, I can make money here too. Berta is the most important thing in my life. She is bigger than that job, or even Exy..."

"Jae, I'm not encouraging you to go, don't take me wrong. But I agree with Berta when she says it's your life and you are the one to decide. And you will not leave her, and I am sure she wouldn't leave you either. You are gonna work in different places, and that's all. The most important thing here is, do you want to go? Because I'm sure if you didn't, there wouldn't be this much doubt hurting you. Be honest, you want to go, but you don't want to look selfish, right?"

I couldn't say he was wrong, part of me really wanted to go. But working in a big company, particularly without Berta, was something that I have never thought of. All my plans included her. "I have to think about it a little more, It's a big decision, a life-changing one. And I'm not sure I'm good enough to work with idols. They need a pro, and me... well... I have just started."

"No need to be humble here, Jae. You are great! You are gifted. I'm sure you're very capable of doing anything you put some effort into."

I side-glanced at him, his compliment made me blush a little. He was mimicking my previous position. The sunlight was shining on his face. He had this diamond shaped face with a perfectly angled jawline, incredibly gorgeous. His hair had grown a little and the black roots started to show. I imagined what he would look like with his natural hair color. He was wearing his usual sleeveless black shirt and tight jeans.  Our knees touched and I couldn't help but compare the difference between the thickness of our thighs. Mine were long and slim, his were much thicker and muscular. Probably he works out a lot... I held on to the analysis of his features and suddenly got stuck on the volume between his legs. How have I never noticed that? The tight jeans encapsulated the content but didn't hide anything, not from my imagination. Nyan was a tall man, with long arms and legs. I wondered if all his body parts were that big... Wait?! What?! No, no! Dirty, dirty mind! I hurried to change the direction of my eyes, but it wasn't fast enough.
