You and Sebastian stood behind a large pillar in the Great Hall, watching closely as his former self sat with the other Slytherins during the Sorting Ceremony. Out of the corner of your eye, you noticed the fifth-year version of Sebastian eyeing you intently as the Sorting Hat sat upon your head, his expression void of every emotion except what seemed to be frustration.

"I didn't want to be there," Sebastian remarked, standing beside you. "I wanted to be with...with..."

"Anne," you interjected, your brow sore due to all of the contortions you'd subjected it to.

"Was she in Slytherin House too?"

"She was."

"By the looks of it, you must have reminded me of her," he added, seemingly beginning to remember his past. "What did she look like?"

You fast forwarded to the moment he'd whisked you away to the Hamlet known as Feldcroft and introduced you to his twin, his eyes expanding exponentially at the sight of her. "Anything prior to this I wouldn't have memories of," you explained. "Ominis met Anne long before I did." Sebastian viewed the memory with a quivering lip and a twisted look in his eye, his shoulders heaving as his brain's hippocampus kicked into full throttle.

"Aha!" Sebastian scared his sister from behind.

"Sebastian, where did you—?" Anne paused, staring at the shrivelfig he'd brought her. "Is that what I think it is?"

A tall man with dark hair stepped between them, stealing the item from Sebastian. "We've been over this, boy."

"Hey!" the fifth-year cried out.

"Shrivelfigs cannot reverse a curse. Nothing can."

You heard a scoff next to you. "What a dickhead," Sebastian snarled, crossing his arms.

You leaned over to him. "That's your uncle...Solomon Sallow. An ex-Auror."

"The sooner you accept that reality the better," and with that, the shrivelfig evaporated into thin air.

"But we haven't tried everything!"

"There is no cure!" The sudden outburst startled everyone in the room, including yourself. "When will you accept that?"

"Never! I can never accept it."

Out of nowhere, Anne began screaming in pain, grabbing ahold of her abdomen and nearly doubling over.

"Now look what you've done."

"Anne! I'm sorry."

"Leave."

Sebastian backed away in disbelief, turning and darting past you and the true version of himself.

"So she was cursed," Sebastian turned towards you, consumed by what seemed to be curiosity more than anything.

"By Victor Rookwood," you specified.

The scene transitioned, carrying you to Salazar Slytherin's Scriptorium.

"I want to learn the curse, but I won't cast it on you. You need to cast it on me."

"I shan't forget this." The boy stepped behind you, guiding your wrist and teaching you the Cruciatus Curse. Meanwhile, Ominis paced nearby, anxiety eating him alive.

"Ready?"

"I'm ready."

"Crucio!"
