Adonis quickly stepped in front of you, pointing his wand at the dementor-infested night sky above. "Expecto Patronum!" he shouted, repelling a large amount of the creatures.
Your gaze landed on Natsai when she also cast the charm, her gazelle patronus taking a dominant charge and frightening more of the monsters away. Her eyes met yours as she mouthed the words, "Go! Now!"
You could feel lithe fingers wrap around your forearm just before being dragged through the woods, led by the red glow of Ominis' wand. He guided the two of you diligently, careful not to trip over any obstacles.
As you were running, two dementors appeared, one on either side of you. You reacted quickly, using your only hand to reach for your wand and cast the Patronus Charm. They shot away from you and out of view, their haunting shrills fading into the distance. "Ominis!" you shouted ahead. "Why aren't you apparating?"
He hesitated, continuing to run. "Because I don't want to—!"
"Ominis!"
"But what if I—?"
"Never mind, I'll do it! Get ready!"
—
You and Ominis reappeared outside the hamlet of Feldcroft, the two of you tumbling back into existence following your race through the Forbidden Forest.
"Where did you take us?" Ominis asked, brushing himself off after regaining his composure.
"Feldcroft," you responded, checking yourself to make sure you were in one piece this time.
Ominis blinked, his blonde hair glowing vibrantly in the light of the full moon. "Why Feldcroft?"
"This has gone on long enough," you hissed, giving him a determined look. "Are there any laws which prohibit the dead from testifying in court, Ominis?"
"You don't mean...?"
"Ominis," you nearly interrupted him. "She's all we have left."
The two of you disguised yourselves using the Disillusionment Charm, stealthily slithering your way between various homes and pathways within the hamlet. As you approached what used to be the Sallow residence, you noticed a trio of goats sleeping in a newly-built stable beside the house. "Psst," you whispered to Ominis. "I think someone is living here." He momentarily used his wand to survey the area, noticing the same as you.
He stated, "I'm going to reveal myself now," waving his wand in a circular motion to become visible again. "You stay hidden."
And then the front door of the house swung open, the wide eyes of a young woman locking onto Ominis' silver ones. She couldn't have been older than eighteen, a toddler fast asleep in the corner of the room atop an unkempt bed. Judging by the Daily Prophet articles strewn across the dining room table, you assumed she recognized him. "Y-you're...," she stuttered, continuing to gawk.
"We're not here to hurt you," Ominis told her, sheathing his wand after getting a good look at the inside of the house. "We just need to speak with someone."
"We?" Anxiety swarmed within the girl's gaze, her expression weighing down on your hearts.
"You do know whose home this was, do you not?" he reminded her, watching as she nodded very hesitantly. Her eyes flashed to the corner of the room where the child slept, her fingertips tip-toeing toward the wand at her hip ever so slowly. You were aware of the time of night, surprised this young lady was awake at such an ungodly hour.
