"Please!"
Sounds of begging echoed around the room.
"PLEASE! I'm a good guy!"
I only smiled.
"What do you want-just make it stop!" He broke off in a scream.
I was dragging it out, but I couldn't help myself. The cruciatus curse was marvelous in action and I couldn't stop admiring it. The way his body twitched and convulsed. The way he struggled to gather enough air to scream or plead. Tears raced down his face, hands and nails clawed at his skin as if he could rip out the source of his misery.
Unfortunately, all good things came to an end. With a sigh, I reversed the curse. He slammed back down, gasping for air while trying desperately to crawl away from me. I lazily strolled after him.
"I suppose that wasn't strictly necessary, forgive me, I do like toying with my prey."
"You're insane." He muttered, teeth still clattering.
"No, I'm efficient."
Alatar and I had intercepted Camden's walk back to the Ravenclaw common rooms just as he had been leaving Gryffindor after shagging his latest interest. With a quick stupefy and silencing charm, it had been almost too easy to drag him up to the astronomy tower. After dumping him on the floor I had given Alatar one last instruction.
He would be back any minute now, I had to make this quick.
"I need you to understand that my threats are not empty."
We were nearing the edge of the tower now.
"I will be taking this memory from you, but the glorious thing is, I cannot take your emotions. Each time you see me, you will be afraid. Your mind may not remember, but your body will."
"Sick bastard" he spat.
"You will fear me, you will hate me to such an extent it will seem unbearable, and I will revel in it."
Someone was coming.
I bent down and grabbed his jaw. "See you on the other side. Obliviate."
Just like that his eyes went blank, and I was astounded at how fast something could simply be plucked from your mind. After a moment he blinked at me before wrenching away from my grasp.
"What the hell! Are you kidnapping me?" I didn't miss the quiver in his voice.
"Not exactly."
Alatar appeared then, waltzing into the tower like he was just there for another smoke. He handed me a letter, seemingly bored. I opened it, pretending not to notice how Camden's hands were shaking.
"I, Camden Pierce Hollow, hereby consent to all my inheritance left to me by Shamron Callson Hollow, be removed from Gringotts and exchanged for muggle money before donation to the non-profit JOINT UNITED NATIONS PROGRAMME ON HIV/AIDS." I glanced up from the paperwork. Camden was staring at is in horror. "Would you like to hear the rest?"
"You can't possibly think that would work!"
I flipped the document around. His signature and his handwriting. This was in fact what Alatar had been up to. He had snuck into the charm's classroom and stolen Camden's homework, using it to copy his handwriting onto the documents now in my hand. An accomplice with the skill of forgery could come in handy, even though it was such a muggle talent.
Magical methods could be traced, this could not.
Camden made a grab for it, but I managed to keep it well away from him. He was seething.
