One Year Later: Bonus Chapter

Note for those who are unaware: this special one-shot takes place in an alternate version of the You And I universe where all the characters are actors who are acting out the events of the first book like it were a movie.

"Max, are you sure you're okay?"

"Don't worry, Loo. I've got them."

Max smiled reassuringly at his girlfriend and continued to balance the two boxed cakes in his arms.

Loona opened the door to the IMP office for him, and he set the two cakes down on the main table.

Upon entering the office, they were greeted by the sight of countless balloons, confetti, and ribbons.

Blitzo stood on a chair, trying to put up a banner that read "Congrats for one year of You And I!"

Loona eyed the banner. "I thought Woof asked you not to go all out with the party."

"She did. And I ignored her." Blitzo said matter-of-factly.

Max sighed. "Sometimes I wonder if you're genuinely trying to get on her bad side."

Blitzo laughed. "I don't know what you're talking about. I know that under all of her hostility, I'm her favorite!"

Max rolled his eyes. "Her favorite? Did you even read the teaser for Owl In A Cage that she wrote where you literally get-"

Loona nudged her boyfriend. "Shhh. Let him find out on his own. It'll be funnier this way."

Before Max could respond, Moxxie and Millie burst into the office.

"We're here!" Millie announced.

Blitzo grinned. "M&M's! Get over here! Help me put this thing up before Woof gets here and stops me."

Millie immediately went to help their boss, but her Moxxie stayed back for a moment.

Eventually, he sighed and followed his wife. "She's going to kill him."

"You're goddamn right I'm gonna."

They all turned as Woof entered the office, staring in shock at the decorations.

Blitzo's grin widened and he jumped down from the chair to approach Woof and sling an arm around her shoulders. "Woof! So glad you showed up."

"Don't touch me."

Blitzo let go, his grin not fading. "What do you think?"

Woof glared at him. "I think you didn't listen to me."

Max stepped up, sensing that Blitzo was increasingly annoying Woof by the second. "It's not that bad... let's just try and have fun, alright?"

Woof turned to her original character and took a deep breath. "...Fine. Somebody break out the booze."

Blitzo pumped his hands in the air. "Hell yeah! Let's get fucked up!"

When dozens of demons began piling into the office, Woof realized that Blitzo had invited them all.

She considered beating the everloving shit out of him but decided that more stress was not what she needed right now, so she instead took a few deep breaths and tried to let loose and have fun.

The party went surprisingly well, and everyone was surprised to see Woof smile for once.

Later on, there was a moment when Woof stepped out of the office and into the hallway, drink in one hand and phone in the other.

Taking a sip of her drink, Woof looked down, reading something off of her phone and smiling.

Soon after, Blitzo, Loona, Max, and the M&M's followed her out into the hall.

"What are you smiling about?" Blitzo asked.

Woof put her phone in her pocket. "You know... comments."

There was a moment of silence before Woof spoke again.

"I know it doesn't seem like it... but I love you guys. Thanks for the past year. We've had ups and downs, but I'm glad I got to meet you."

There was silence among the cast members before Blitzo answered her.

"Are you drunk?"

Woof glared at him. "This is exactly why I don't like you, Blitzo."

Blitzo laughed. "I'm kidding, I'm kidding!" He looked around at the six of them. "I think each one of us can say the same about each other."

Blitzo raised the drink in his hand. "To our friends."

Max raised his drink. "To sweet revenge."

Loona raised hers and leaned into her boyfriend's side. "To sweeter love." She kissed Max on the cheek.

Woof smiled at each one of them and raised her drink. "To every single one of our readers."

Woof and the cast of characters turn towards you, the reader, and raise their drinks.

"Thank you for everything, and happy anniversary to You And I!"
