Road Trip

The trip to Rocky beach is never long unless you have your mortal enemy next to you. " You need to stop elbowing me wings" he growled  "that's exactly why I'm doing it unless you stop and shut up!"

Mom stopped the car "alright Angel front  seat now!" I did exactly as she did with a grin at my face.  " Why can't you behave for one moment?" Abovously she didn't want us to answer.

We stop at a gas station "ten bucks each" she hands me a twenty and winked. She knows I'm more responsible with money than Michael is.

" Hey little lady, need help?" A man leaned on the shelf. "No I'm just..." I grabbed a packet of freezes "  grabbing these" he grabbed my hand "listen-" Levi came in "babe your mom is waiting for you" I stared at him. We both had partners.

"Coming sweetie" I said. I grabbed whatever I needed and left. " Don't mention what happened back there, your welcome" my blood boiled.  The nerve of this asshole.

" Did any of you go to the bathroom?, it's a long way there"  we all nodded. Then I got a text from Aron.

ARON: miss me 🥰

ME:  never 😜

ARON: ah sarcasm, what happened to the halo wings? 🤔

ME: hmm it fell off when I feel for u 😘

We continue to text until mom tells me to save my battery. We stopped at hotel for the night. It didn't look bad a little beaten up but surprisingly sturdy. "Two rooms please" mom tells a man whose face was completely covered with a newspaper.

" Here I'll collect the money in the morning" and we left to go to our rooms.

I couldn't sleep. I miss all my friends  and my boyfriend. Sleep then takes over. "Wake up, Judy is waiting for us" I get up

The nearest diner was about two miles, and I pretty sure everyone is hungery I know I am. "Hey wings, do you think Colin will be able to do the annual campout even with Levi" Mike asked

"If you count Coltan this year, last few times he was being a big baby and I had to stay with him" that was the year I told him why my nickname was wings.

JUNE TWENTY 2019

Coltan sat on the grey sofa watching TV. "what's wrong, didn't include you this year?" He sniffled "ya" I sat down with him. Judy was making lunch, grilled cheese.

"Why do people call you wings?" He finally asked after a few minutes of silence. " I was super obsessed with birds, and my name was Angel.." he Clued on what I was saying "cool" and we didn't speak until lunch was ready.

Present

"So what can I ya?" She looked over at Levi she was about my age. " Just a plain burger and some fries" she then turned to me " a piece of pizza please" she left.

" Aron's family is coming to Rocky this summer in July" I said " that's nice maybe I can finally meet him without me being at one of your band concerts" her smile was rueful.

Were four miles behind the diner and Michael grumbled about something.  "You should've packed better " mom retorted.

After an hour of Michael's grumbling we were finally here.
