Chapter 1: The New Beginning
Lee YN awoke to the insistent beeping of her alarm clock, reluctantly pulling herself out of sleep. Her small apartment was bathed in the soft, early morning light that filtered through thin curtains. The room was simple painted in muted pastels, with a worn-out bed covered in a crumpled duvet, a wooden dresser with chipped paint, and a small desk cluttered with old textbooks and job application papers. Despite her attempts to keep things tidy, the room felt cramped and slightly chaotic.
Sitting on the edge of her bed, YN’s mind wandered back to her school and college days. She missed the carefree laughter, the camaraderie with friends, and the thrill of learning new things. Those days seemed like a distant dream now, overshadowed by the relentless search for employment. Her apartment, once a symbol of her independence, now felt like a cage she was struggling to escape.
With a determined sigh, YN pushed herself out of bed and shuffled to the bathroom. The bathroom was modest, with tiled walls and a small bathtub that showed signs of wear. After a quick shower, YN stepped out, wrapping herself in a soft, faded towel. She glanced at her reflection in the mirror and muttered, “Alright, YN. Another day, another chance.”
In her bedroom, YN selected a crisp, white blouse and a navy pencil skirt from her limited wardrobe. The blouse, with its subtle sheen, complemented her medium-length brown hair, which she styled into loose waves. The pencil skirt fit snugly, giving her a professional yet stylish appearance. She finished off the look with a pair of black pumps. “You’ve got this,” she said to herself, adjusting her skirt in the mirror.
In the kitchen, YN prepared a simple breakfast of oatmeal with slices of fruit and a cup of black coffee. The kitchen, though small, was neatly arranged. A small wooden table with two chairs occupied the limited space. As she ate, she reviewed her notes for the upcoming interview, her mind racing with a mix of excitement and anxiety. “Just need to get through today,” she said softly, her eyes scanning her documents.
After breakfast, YN gathered her belongings, her resume, cover letter, and portfolio neatly organised in a folder. She checked her appearance one last time in the hallway mirror, smoothing out her blouse and adjusting her skirt. “You’re ready,” she reassured herself with a determined nod.
She grabbed her keys and walked to her old, reliable sedan. The car had seen better days but had been her faithful companion through countless interviews. As she drove through the city, her thoughts were a blend of hope and apprehension. “Please let this be the one,” she prayed silently, gripping the steering wheel tightly.
Upon arriving at Horizon Enterprises, YN was struck by the sleek, modern architecture of the building. The glass and steel structure loomed majestically, reflecting the company’s success. As she entered the lobby, she noticed employees moving with purpose and respect. Many of them bowed slightly or offered polite nods as a tall figure passed by.
The figure was imposing standing at 6 '1", his muscular build was evident even through his impeccably tailored suit. His chest and shoulders were well-defined, hinting at a disciplined lifestyle. The respect from the employees was palpable, though his face was not visible to, YN. His presence commanded attention, embodying authority and professionalism.
YN approached the receptionist, her heart racing with anticipation. “I have an interview with Mr. Kim,” she said, trying to keep her voice steady.
The receptionist smiled warmly. “Of course. Please have a seat. Mr. Kim will be with you shortly.”
YN took a seat in the sleek, contemporary lobby, her nerves frayed with both excitement and anxiety. She glanced around at the high-end surroundings, feeling a sense of awe. Her heart raced as she hoped this interview would finally lead to the breakthrough she had been waiting for.
Moments later, Namjoon Kim entered the lobby. His commanding presence was immediately felt even before he appeared in full view. His tailored suit accentuated his muscular build, and the respectful bows and nods from the employees made it clear that he was a figure of significant authority. YN caught a brief glimpse of him as he walked past a striking figure whose height and physique spoke volumes about his commanding presence.
A few minutes later, the receptionist gestured for YN to follow her. They walked through polished corridors and entered Namjoon’s office. The room was a perfect blend of modern sophistication and executive comfort, with sleek furnishings and a commanding view of the city skyline.
Namjoon Kim stood behind a large mahogany desk. He was impeccably dressed in a charcoal suit, which accentuated his broad shoulders and muscular frame. His dark hair was neatly styled, and his sharp, dark eyes exuded confidence and authority.
“Ms. Lee,” Namjoon greeted, his voice smooth and authoritative. “Welcome. Please, have a seat.”
YN approached the desk, her heart pounding in her chest. “Thank you, Mr. Kim,” she said, taking a seat.
Namjoon began to outline her potential responsibilities with clarity and precision. As he spoke, YN found herself captivated not just by the opportunity but by his commanding presence and professionalism. His manner was both engaging and precise, reflecting a deep understanding of his role and expectations.
After the interview, Namjoon extended his hand. “I’m impressed with your qualifications and enthusiasm, Ms. Lee. I believe you will be a great fit for our team.”
YN shook his hand, feeling a mix of relief and excitement. “Thank you, Mr. Kim. I look forward to contributing to the team.”
As she left the office, YN felt a sense of hope. Today had the potential to mark the beginning of a new chapter in her life, and she hoped that this opportunity at Horizon Enterprises would finally be the breakthrough she had been waiting for.
