"Georgie!"
"Huh?" I blinked, looking around my living room. My dad was staring at me from the sofa.
"Your friend asked if you wanted'a go over tomorrow," he said, his hand covering the bottom half of the phone, where he was previously speaking into.
"Which friend?" I asked. He stared at me for a second before lifting his hand off of the phone, bringing it to his mouth.
"Uh, what's your name again?" He spoke casually.
A second passed, then he nodded and brought the phone away from his face again, covering the bottom half of the phone with his hand.
"His name is Zach." He stated.
"Yeah sure, tell 'im I'll be there." I shrugged. I turned back towards the TV, reaching for the remote when there was a knock on the door.
"Georgie, go get it." My dad dismissed. I rolled my eyes before hauling myself up, turning towards the door.
Reaching for the doorknob, I pulled the door open to see Sheldon on the other side.
"Sheldon? Where were you?" I raised a brow. He looked up at me.
"I was over at Meemaw's playing Robotron for the past fifty-five minutes. Did you know that it was only created a few years ago? There are two separate joysticks used to aim and shoot at—"
"Just get inside," I quickly cut him off. I moved to the side so he could enter the house.
"Very well." He walked into the house, spotting dad on the sofa.
As I closed the door, I could distinctly hear them talking behind me.
Before I could dragged into the conversation, I decided to go into my room and distract myself with some magazines.
"Georgie!"
"What?" I groaned, looking over at the source of the voice.
"Were you even listening to a word I was saying?" Zach asked, irritated. He was sitting comfortably on his bed, twirling a football on his finger occasionally.
"Uh, yeah?" I said. Spoiler alert—I was not listening. I was zoning out, sprawled out on the floor while subconsciously tossing a rubber ball against the wall repeatedly.
Zach only gave me a look, "You're just like Rachel..."
"What? I am not!" I exclaimed, offended. He looked at me doubtfully.
"Oh yeah? What's one difference between you two?" He asked.
"Well, for one, she's a girl." I said.
"Well you're sure as hell acting like one right now," he joked.
"Hey!" I rolled my eyes. He burst out in laughter, causing for me to follow.
"Hey, I got a question." He grinned at me. He stopped twirling the football and tucked it under his arm.
"What's up?" I asked.
"What do you think about him?" He asked, getting close to the edge of the bed to look down at me. I raised a brow.
"Who?" I tilted my head in curiosity. He facepalmed.
"Come on, Georgie, you know who!" He set his football down next to me and looked back and forth between me and the football.
Then, I connected the dots.
"Oh, you mean that guy that I met like, two days ago?" I asked. He smiled.
"Oh, good. I thought you were dumber than that for a second," he teased. I rolled my eyes.
"Yeah, yeah. What about him?" I questioned.
"Have you asked him to tutor you in math yet?" He questioned.
"Yeah. We had a session today, actually. Went okay, I think I'm closer to learning math." I said, watching the ball bounce off the wall and right back into my hand.
"That's great! So it's actually working?" He smiled enthusiastically.
"I guess. I mean, we've only had two sessions so far n' yesterday's session was cut short 'cause we went to the nurse's office," I smirked, "now I know that I'm strong enough to lift 'im."
"What do you mean?" Zach gave me a look. I glanced back at him for a second.
"Well, he challenged me to see if I could lift 'im up. So I did, and I could." I explained simply.
"You lifted him up? Like, what, a piggy back ride?" He asked, confusion written all over his face.
"Nah, more like bridal style."
If Zach were drinking water, he'd've spit it out by now.
"You carried him bridal style?" Zach exclaimed. I stopped throwing the ball for a second.
"...Well, when you say it like that, it sounds weird." I looked over at him, dropping the ball to the ground.
"It was only for a second, then I let 'im down." I shrugged. I tucked my hands behind my head, staring up at the roof.
"Georgie...have you ever considered you have feelings for him?" Zach questioned.
Now, if I had water, I woulda spit that out too.
"What?" I did a double take.
"I mean, carrying him bridal style? Seems kinda iffy if you ask me." Zach shrugged.
"Dude, I'm not gay." I stated. I was sure I wasn't gay. I'm not attracted to guys. I've only ever been attracted to girls, and their figures, and bodies...
"Really? What kind of straight guy just carries his friends bridal style?" Zach asked doubtfully. I rolled my eyes.
"I'm not gay, end of conversation." I stated simply.
I'm not gay.
I'm not into guys.
Who would be into the same gender?
That's weird.
