Beomgyu always did the most heart-fluttering things to Taehyun before acting like it never happened by the next second. It frustrated Taehyun beyond words.

Anyone could see how in love he was with the elder. He has been since they were in middle school. If you asked Taehyun how he realized, he'd say it went a little like this.

It was the second week of middle school. It was Taehyun's second year there, while it was Beomgyu's third. Their schedules hardly intertwined, only for the electives they chose to take together. They took the beginner's art class and beginner's choir.

It was Tuesday during choir when Beomgyu brought up the topic. —The topic of crushes, that is.

Taehyun didn't have one, but Beomgyu went on and on about this girl in their art class. How she was so pretty and talented, about how kind and soft-spoken she was. Taehyun felt weird every time the older would talk about her.

But Taehyun dispelled the feeling by reminding himself that that's all Beomgyu would do, talk. He didn't know why the fact reassured him so well, or why he felt weird about it in the first place.

But the once reassuring statement eventually became false.

Beomgyu stopped talking to Taehyun and instead talked to his crush. He asked her out and they started dating.

Taehyun knew he should've been happy and supportive that his hyung's crush liked him back —there was a very small chance of such after all. Yet when Beomgyu told him, he felt crushed. He didn't understand the feeling, but he tried his best to support his hyung nonetheless.

Whenever Taehyun saw the two together in school, a foreign feeling bubbled in his guts. He felt as if he was being replaced. The fact that Beomgyu and the girl were in the same year and had most of the same classes hurt Taehyun even more so. He thought that was why he felt the way he did, he was feeling upset because he felt replaced.

Except he wasn't being replaced.

Beomgyu had dedicated his school time to his girlfriend, but his time off to Taehyun. It was fairly even that way, given the weekend.

Whenever school was over, when it was just the two of them, that feeling inside of Taehyun was completely forgotten as if it never existed in the first place. It felt like a bad dream that could be forgotten within a day.

But of course, it comes back.

Taehyun remembers one time after school, he and Beomgyu stopped for ice cream on the walk home.

They sat in the small shop, talking about their day as they ate their ice cream, Beomgyu's chocolate, and Taehyun's strawberry. Taehyun was as smiley as he always was around Beomgyu.

Taehyun remembers when Beomgyu suddenly brought a small napkin with floral embroidery up to the corner of his lips. Taehyun had snapped his head up from his bowl of ice cream to look at the boy in shock, he wasn't expecting the action.

He remembers the soft look in Beomgyu's eyes and the slight heat radiating off his cheeks.

'Is the ice cream too cold? Your cheeks look a bit red,' Beomgyu had said after balling the napkin up and sitting it on their table.

Taehyun just let his eyes linger a bit further into the older's before shrugging and diverting his attention back to his ice cream.

He remembers the small chuckle that Beomgyu had emanated before returning to his ice cream. He remembers how the faint sound had made the heat in his cheeks spread, but Beomgyu hadn't looked up to see it.
