Narrator pov. Continuing in the guest room~
Shinichi held his breath as the door opened to reveal... A young woman. She seems only two years older than he used to be, and she has a friendly face.
Still, he didn't know why she brought him here and she might have ulterior motives so he didn't completely let his guard down and watched as she stepped completely into the room.
Pov switch~
Yoru opened the door and stepped into the room as she looked down to see the boy.
She smiled at him gently in both relief and greeting as she held a hand up in a wave, noticing the mistrust and fear visible in his face and eyes, and didn't try to step closer and risk scaring him more as she said, "Ah, you're awake! How is your head? Does it hurt? And are the clothes comfortable?"
Pov switch~
Shinichi paused, her tone sounded genuinely curious and concerned, and even her eyes and aura just screamed safety...
He unconsciously touched the bandage wrapped around his head again when she asked about it as he looked down at his outfit, and went to open his mouth to ask her name and how and why he got here before the image of the man popped up again and he closed it back up.
Right. He just turned mute.
What should he do? It's not like he can just stay silent and expect her to understand what he wants to say...
Maybe he should somehow tell her about his mutism?
Pov switch~
Yoru tilted her head as she noticed the boy open his mouth before pausing and closing it as if remembering something 'Huh?' she raised an eyebrow as he now looked conflicted.
She watched as he seemed to get an idea before he looked back up at her and started pointing at his mouth while opening and closing as if talking, she immediately understood 'Oh!~'
She asked, "You're mute?" the boy's face lit up a little in relief as he nodded which made her smile and nod in understanding "Sokka. Ja..."
She took out an old card book from one of the drawers and held it to him "Use these to tell me what you want to say, nothing complicated though, they're just my old teaching cards so they don't have that many words."
The boy nodded and accepted the book before he sat down on the ground and opened it as he flipped through the pages carefully.
The first word he stopped and pointed at was {Who.} he then pointed up at her which Yoru easily translated to (Who are you?) she sweatdropped. "Ah, Gomen. I was so focused on asking if you were ok that I forgot to explain."
She smiled and introduced herself, "Watashi Wa Yukinawa Yoru, and this is my house. I found you passed out with your head bleeding at Tropical Land and I didn't see anyone else around that seemed to look for you so I brought you here, treated your injury, and changed your clothes to make you more comfortable."
The boy nodded at the explanation and introduction slowly before Yoru asked, "Well, now it's my turn. What happened and why were you passed out there with clothes too big for you?"
Pov switch~
Shinichi tensed at the question, 'Kami, I should've seen that coming... So what now?' should he lie or should he tell the truth?
He had a thoughtful look before he made his decision 'Here goes nothing...'
Pov switch~
Yoru watched as the boy seemed to think deeply about her question before he looked back up at her with a confused look then looked back down at the book then flipped the pages until he pointed at something else, except what he pointed at wasn't a word, just a question mark as he looked up at her.
Yoru's eyes widened "You don't remember?" he shook his head and she added, "Do you remember your name at least?" this time he actually frowned in a childish angry way and just crossed his arms, his head moving in a motion that was between nodding and shaking it.
She got the message, "You either don't like your name or you don't want to tell me. Which one is it?" he looked up at her before he held up one finger, meaning the first choice.
She sighed, "Sokka... Well, I guess I'll just come up with a new better name for you then! If you're okay with it." the boy seemed to think about it before he shrugged and nodded so she started scanning him up and down thoughtfully as she started thinking to herself.
He's a boy that survived a bad life by the looks of it so he's like...
She smiled before she said, "Kirimura Takeshi." she wrote the kanji for it on her hand with her finger.
Pov switch~
Shinichi read the kanji and blinked, 'Takeshi? Doesn't that mean warrior?' he tilted his head in confusion.
Why would she name him something with that meaning?
Pov switch~
Yoru noticed the boy's confusion and smiled as she explained, "It's because you survived a bad life didn't you? So you're like a warrior. And since I know you don't trust me enough to have my last name, I came up with a last name that fits." She smiles proudly, "So what do you think? You like it?"
Pov switch~
Shinichi blinked repeatedly as he processed the "warrior" explanation, realizing she technically complimented him.
He blushed a little in embarrassment before he just nodded, not that he could say anything even if he wasn't embarrassed.
Pov switch~
Yoru smiled wider at his nod before she exclaimed, "It's settled then. Hajimemashite, Kirimura Takeshi-kun!" She smiled down at Takeshi who smiled a little back, she was relieved that he finally smiled around her even if it was tiny.
Little did they both know, that this interaction between them is the start of a long hard journey together.
AN: And done! Hope you guys liked it!
I have to admit, deciding on a name that was different sure took a while... Sorry if you guys don't like the last name, but I was focusing on how easy and fun the pronunciation of it with the first name would sound like so...
Kirimura Takeshi just had the best sound for me.
Anyway, yeah, the next chapter is him going to school (Aka, him getting even more tortured than canon by being trapped with kids while not being able to talk- XD) so look forward to that!
That's all. See you next chapter!
Stay sweet my fellow anime lovers!~
