A Visit

AN: This continues from the last chapter when they go and visit Akihito's, Yoru's father's, grave. Shinichi, or rather Takeshi, gets to learn more about his current guardian and they form more of a connection in this. Now let's start the chapter!

Narrator pov. In the car~

The rest of the ride was silent as Takeshi kept glancing between the bouquet in his hands and up at Yoru's face as she drove them to the cemetery.

'I can't believe Yoru-san lost someone...' he thought as he settled on staring down at the bouquet 'And it's not even a friend... But a family member...' 

Yoru noticed his staring but just ignored it as she focused on driving until they arrived at the cemetery and she said, "We're here..." She parked the car before she turned the engine off and gently took the bouquet from him with a small grateful smile as she ruffled his head gently.

He just stared up at her without knowing what to say until she said, "We're both getting out since, knowing Oneesan, I'll take a while in there and I don't want you to get bored or just stay in the car while it's off. Ok?"

Takeshi blinked then nodded as she unlocked the doors and they both got out, her locking it behind her, then she gave him another small gentle smile before she gestured for him to follow and then they both started walking into the cemetery as she carried the bouquet.

After a while of walking, they stopped by one of the graves and Takeshi watched as Yoru turned toward it and looked down at it which made him do the same as he read the name of the person buried.

{Yukinawa Akihito} 

'Yukinawa...?' he looked back up at Yoru who now sat down on the ground in front of the grave and placed the bouquet down on it before placing a hand on the headstone, a sad smile on her face before she greeted, "Hey, Papa... It's Yo-chan..."

His eyes widened as he gasped 'He... was her father...' he looked down and away in respect as some breeze picked up and started playing at both of their hairs.

Yoru started a conversation, "I know that I don't visit you as often as I should, but I'm just busy with college and my job. I'm getting closer to becoming like you by the day, I know you understand." 

Takeshi was just feeling bad for being there as he didn't want to intrude so he gently pulled on her sleeve and signed **I'll wait for you by the trees, Yoru-Neesan.** Yoru nods, "Gomen." He shakes his head and just walks off as he lets her have her time with her father.

After a while, he sees Yoru walk over, she was smiling wider again, and she stopped in front of him then knelt down to look at him, "Alright, I'm done. Oneesan is sorry for making you wait that long, Takeshi-kun." he shook his head again **It's really nothing, Yoru-Neesan. You needed some time alone with your Otousan.**

She smiled a little wider as she ruffled his hair again, "Arigato for understanding." she stands back up straight and holds a hand out for him to take, which he accepts as they start walking back to the car.

As they walked, she said, "It was when Oneesan was 14." he looked up at her in confusion but she wasn't looking at him, she was looking up at the sky, "When my Papa died." he gasped as she had a small sad nostalgic smile, her eyes seeming as if she was reliving what happened.

"You see Takeshi-kun... You weren't the only one with a bad home life, Oneesan used to have one too because of her mother." She sighed.

"Aiko-san... She hated me with all her heart so much that she gave me the name Yoru because she thought of me as the darkness in her life, and she made sure to make that clear every day of my childhood, especially when she wouldn't let me even call her Mother, and one day... she snapped and tried to kill me... But Papa took the hit and here we are..."

Her smile turned more proud, "I was so scared and of course, I cried a lot but... I never once doubted how much of a hero he was to me, he still is now, it's why I want to become like him and join the police force someday."

She finally looked down at him, "That's why, when Oneesan found you, I knew you were in danger and someone was after you, I think it's your family but since you don't remember yet, I won't say I'm sure."

She gives him a small smile, "You're like how I used to be, or at least somewhat similar, that's why I just want you to know that you can trust me, ne?"

Takeshi lowered his gaze away from her without saying, or rather signing, anything in response, suddenly feeling guilty as he heard the story before he nodded and he heard her laugh a little, "You know, I never felt comfortable enough to tell that to anyone else, or even bring them with me here, it feels... Nice. I'm glad I can trust you."

They arrived back at the car and stopped holding hands as she unlocked the car and they both got in and then as she turned the engine on asked, "Ah, by the way, what do you want for dinner tonight? We can celebrate your first day in school by having what you want."

He blinked up at her before he smiled slightly, 'She's really so kind...' he then thought about it before he signed **Can we have some beef stew?** She smiled and nodded, "Hai!~ Oneesan will make sure to start cooking it up the moment we get home." she then reverses the car out of the parking spot before driving off back to their current shared home.

AN: And done! Hope you guys like it!

Well, well, looks like Shinichi feels guilty for not being truthful with Yoru when she's already truthful with him. Wonder what will happen next?~

Also if you guys noticed it, yeah this is a parallel to the scene with Ran when she takes Conan to the agency the first time the night he shrunk. Did you like this version? I hope you say so in your feedback in the comments!
