Warning: Toxic relationship, blood

There he was again. She could not see him but, she could hear his slow breaths. It was so dark but could feel him, she could see the blood on his cheeks.

She tried to save him again like she always did. He groaned in pain as she gave him chest compression again. She had only one thought. To save him. Her ears started ringing as she tried to revive him. He remained still. Her whole body ached when she heard her name. The voice felt distant but familiar.

She didn't respond as she kept trying to revive him. The voice grew closer as tears dropped down her cheeks. Just when the man started to open his eyes, she was jolted awake to reality.

The harsh sunlight pouring into her room blinded her for a few minutes. As soon as her eyes adjusted to the light, she heard the same voice calling her name. She turned around to look at a familiar man with piercing blue eyes and black hair in her bed. Colin. She took a breath of relief. She knew he was not the man she was trying to save in her dream. No. Because the man had forest green eyes and sandy blonde hair, he had scars everywhere. She is sure she has never met someone like him yet. He feels so familiar.

"Hey Y/n, are you alright?"

His voice breaks her train of thought. Her small smile is enough to convince him she is fine. For now.

"You got very restless at night too, did you dream about him again?"

She sighed there was no point in hiding from him about the strange man she sees in her dream. He ruined a lot of her relationships and she couldn't blame them. Who would like their partner to dream about another man? But she still revealed it to Colin knowing it might ruin her relationship with him but he had been understanding and consoled her it was not her fault. She felt safe until she didn't. His temper brought back memories of her father's temper. How one moment he was loving and sweet and the other moment he would lash out at every living being in his vicinity leading Y/n to feel like she was walking on eggshells.

"Yes. I am so sorry Colin. I honestly didn't mean to"

He held her face gently. His blue irises laced with concern surprisingly did nothing to calm her heart. She tried not to blink as the forest-green irises seemed to have burned into her memory. She can't remember when she last felt comfortable in Colin's grip or if she ever did.

Confusion fogged her brain. She was never sure how Colin felt or how he would feel in the next second. She would always think twice before speaking to him.

He smiled at her warmly. She took a breath of relief. But she had a gnawing feeling. Even though he looked sympathetic towards her now. It would take a small fight for him to bring back the fact she keeps dreaming about this man. Making her feel guilty.

For now, he told her he was going to go make breakfast. She watched him leave the room, humming like nothing happened. She laid back on the bed taking a breath of relief.

Colin gave a quick kiss to Y/n before he left for his day. All he told her was that new employees were coming in. He had to leave early to make them feel welcome. If he felt a bit agitated with the idea he didn't show. And Y/n didn't mind. Colin is a complex man. The worst thing he did to her was that he raised his voice at her. So far

She thinks she has dealt with worse, that she can deal with him. She bids him goodbye before she leaves for work too. Colin reaches the building that almost touches the sky. So many windows that gave him a view of the city that was meant to relax him. Instead, it infuriates him. It seems to him that the city is mocking him for choosing this life as the other skyscrapers glimmered brightly due to the harsh sunlight hitting their glass windows.

He taps the steering wheel as he suddenly notices a tall, lanky man making his way towards the building. Colin groaned already regretting his decision. He got out of his car and tried to hide his frown at the man's unruly sandy blonde hair. Colin tried his best not to scoff. Instead, he cleared his throat making the man in front of him startle.

Despite the man's height, he looked shy, he looked the type that liked receiving flowers. Colin hated those kinds of people. He immediately noticed scars on his face and was judging him already. What kind of life does he live to receive so many scars. Colin wondered.

Even if Colin just wanted to pretend this man didn't exist he wanted to grab that regional manager's position he has been eyeing for years and had a reputation. With a tight smile, he greeted the man and entered the elevator mentally preparing himself for the interaction

Colin looked at the man who was sitting in the breakroom tapping his feet against the floor as he held his bag as if it was the only thing that was grounding him in reality. He had 5 cups of water by now and looked like he was on the verge of getting another glass.

Colin got up from his uncomfortable chair and cracked his back as he made his way toward the man for the second time that day. Immediately the man offered him a shy smile and Colin sat beside him.

"Is this your first sales job?" Colin saw a bit of familiarity in his behavior as his own girlfriend tended to faint from anxiety on some occasions. Good there are two of them

"Uh...no I have some experience as I worked in a small-scale business with my uncle. He managed the numbers and I managed the sales."

"huh..well it feels like we need your uncle more than you right now." The man's heart dropped. "but I think we can keep you both here. You can build up your resume by working here, so the next time you enter a building like this you are in my place guiding another boy like you"

Colin felt like he was on cloud 9. Great, another sheep who could do his work for him when he doesn't feel like doing it. He almost felt bad for the man but this is how the world works. A sheep cannot survive amongst a pack of wolves.

That's what Colin thought of himself that he was a part of the pack when the reality is far from it. He extended his hand and introduced himself.

"Colin Fletcher."

The man smiled warmly and accepted Colin's hand. Colin masked his surprise at the man's strong grip and smiled

"Remus Lupin. Nice to meet you"
