Chapter nine

the next day I got up. soon, I was determined to talk with Barnes. I knew he got up at 6:30 and went for a run. So I got ready and joined him

"what are you doing here?" "I'm going to run, isn't it obvious?"

he starts running and I do everything to keep up with him. We run for about half an hour, then he slows down

"what do you really want Ame?"
"Okay...I want to talk to you... About Sharon"
"What? Why?"

I didn't want to get too specific and tell him that I overheard her on the phone last night. It might seem like I was spying on her

"No... Only, how much do we know about her since she came back from Madripoor?"
He glared at me

"I just want to say she stayed there since 2016. Considering she hasn't had the Blip, she's been there more than seven years. Maybe she could, hypothetically, be changed, let's assume it's Sharon who helped Cap against Tony"
"no no, stop now. I don't know what you're insinuating but I don't want to listen"

"I'm just saying that because she's been right once or twice doesn't mean she's a good person now" "On the right side? A good person? You mean why did she help Cap at the airport? She was? Just help me remember, where were you that time?"

"Fuck you Barnes...I thought I could talk to you" "Or you can. Only you have to raise your mental age by at least 10 years, because I don't talk to children"
"I'm talking to you about something serious, Barnes. Of a hypothesis that apparently no one has calculated"

"Because it's absurd. I remind you that Sharon risked everything to help us against Carli... if u have a problem with Sharon talk to her about it, and don't use the excuse of she's dangerous"

"You're absurd" "because you mean I'm wrong?" I sighed "you know where she is now for example" "she's going to the airport, to go to England. Her uncle died"

I stood still without saying anything "Bye Ame" he said and run away

Maybe he was right. Maybe I was really imagining and making up all about Sharon. But why? I mean after all she's a strong woman and she's... She's always with him

Did it bother me that she spent time with him?

Okay. Better go to your room to take a shower and forget about the last few hours

A couple of hours later I went to Yelena's room, And I saw her smile on her bed as she looked at her phone

"What happened?" She looked up a bit "Hi Ame" "What are you looking at that makes you so happy?" She didn't answer but blushed

I walked up to her and stole her phone "I swear and if you don't give it back soon I'll kick your ass" I looked and she was texting Kate

"A good partner ehm?" I told her as I handed her the phone. She looked at me a little badly then she picked up the phone and sat down on the bed again

"I'll see her tomorrow for dinner. I asked her if she wanted to try that new restaurant that opened on the fifth street" "the Italian one?"  She nodded

"Interesting story development" She threw me a pillow "come on I was just kidding" I approached the bed and sat next to her

"Do you already know what to wear?" "I was thinking about the black top with the leather pants" "sexy...then maybe do some eyeliner. You're like the queen, I can't do it and trust me it's a super power" She giggled

"Can you make me a braid for tomorrow? I can't do it well by myself" "Sure, count on me" "What time are you going to dinner?" "I told her at seven at the restaurant" "ok"
