Addison's P.O.V.
-----
"Yeahhhhhhh, ummm. I probably heard about 2% of what you just said there uhhh..." I can tell he is searching for my name even though I just told him 3 seconds ago. I laugh."Addison. Addison Skye." I remind him.
"Yeah, that." He rolls his eyes.
"It's alright. The bracelets are pretty distracting," I laugh again. "I'll start over. What I asked was if you are new around here because, if you haven't already noticed, the town is pretty small and I kinda know pretty much everyone...BUT, I don't know you. Meaning, you're new. And then I said I could show you around if you wanted and help you get acquainted with some of the people and kids around here. It'll help you settle in better if you know people." I practically says it all in one breath. I still feel the tears glossed over my eyes but choose to ignore them. Don't want to scare this kid anymore than I already have. He seems decent. But I can tell I'm irritating him through his body language, the way he shifts his weight from side to side and the constant huffing every 2 seconds. I don't care if he's annoyed by me or not. I've seen kids like him before. Big city kids who have never lived in a town like this. And basically without someone like me to help him get used to it, he'll never survive; he'll probably kill himself from boredom if I don't step up.
"Can you help me find a place with wifi?" he asks holding his phone up angrily. "No service." He slaps the phone back down and into his back pocket.
"I need your name first," I say purposely being difficult. He's kinda cute when he's pissed.
"Calum," he replies quickly.
"Calum..." purposeful awkward pause. "...what?"
"What do you mean?" His face is getting madder and madder by the second.
"I need your middle name," I say trying not to let out the giggle I feel coming.
"Yeah okay. Just because you gave me your middle name, doesn't obligate me to give mine to you. So, no." he says defiantly while rolling his eyes dramatically. "Now, are you gonna bring me to the wifi or not?"
Shrugging, I say, "Follow me," finally giving into my urge to laugh out loud.
The whole rest of the way I spend trying to guess his middle name just to annoy him. "Calum Robert? Calum Grey? Calum Owen? Calum Lewis?" I do this for ten minutes. It's obvious he hates all ten. Every time I ask him a name he grunts so audibly you'd think he's constipated.
Upon arriving at "Sally's" restaurant, Calum gives me a quick glance, raising his eyebrows as if to ask, "Wifi?!?!" without actually asking. I nod, and his walk turns into a bolt as he runs to the restaurant door. He's already sitting and connected to the wifi when I get in there.
I wave toward my friend Kamryn standing behind the counter. Technically the restaurant belongs to her mom, Sally, but lately Kam's been the one to run the place during the summer weeks. She's my age (an upcoming junior) and we've been pretty good friends since middle school.
"Hey Addison!" She exclaims with a big toothy smile. I place my hands into the back pockets of my jeans and stroll over to the counter.
"Hey Kam," I reply, smiling back.
"So, uh, who's hottie in that booth over there?" She nods in the direction of Calum.
To which I simply reply, "His name's Calum."
She looks so disappointed. "That's all you know? Come on Addieeee! You couldn't have done any better???!!" She places her head in her hands and slowly brings both to the counter whining the whole way down. "You can never get good useful info out of a boy unless it's Jake," her muffled voice says from the counter.
