~ Then ~
3 months ago, August 1st"Why are you fighting me on this, Jeremiah?" Angelina let out with a frustrated sigh as she gripped the steering wheel tighter. There was less traffic tonight then usual considering the area they were traveling. The last two weeks of summer coming to an end for the both of them.
The day they left, they just drove, with no destination in mind. They found themselves in sunny Northern California within three days after leaving Cousins Beach on a whim. They stayed in the Bay Area mostly, sightseeing everything they could in the little time they had before having to return back reality.
And now to Angelina, as the two weeks come to an end, it was back to reality. She was driving to the San Francisco airport with a purchased one-way plane ticket near Cousins Beach. But, it was only one plane ticket, not two.
"I'm not returning without you, how can you possibly even think that would be an option," Jeremiah let out more aggressively then he meant too. His fist were clinching his jeans against his thighs. He was trying his best not to be angry at her but she was definitely making it difficult.
Jeremiah sighed trying to calm himself down. They just spend the most perfect two weeks together and now, it's all coming to an abrupt end- an end to them cause that's how Jeremiah saw it. He knew that it was coming. Angelina was about to end them.
The wind had picked up slightly as Angelina gripped the steering wheel tighter. She knew she had to do this. She had to do it for Jeremiah. He needed to be back home. Back home with his mom.
Angelina had purchased a plane ticket for him in secret the moment they arrived to California, not telling him until the night of, when they began driving over here. As soon as Julian Tello took charge, the funds her dad left her, hit her bank account. She could survive out here by herself, but she wasn't going to drag Jeremiah with her in this state of unknown, not when his mom needed him.
"Don't you dare say some bullshit that I deserve better," Jeremiah scoffed.
Angelina rolled her eyes because it had nothing to do with that. He didn't realize it yet, how could he when she didn't. The unknown time she had left with her dad, she wish she could go back and spend it all with him. Angelina knew she had to push Jeremiah away. "What do you want me to say then? That you should stay with me? Don't be ridiculous, Jeremiah. I have my high school diploma. I can get a job out here. Survive. You're barely going into senior year, you're still a ch-"
"Enough! Don't say those words to me," Jeremiah said. It's all Conrad ever said to him. 'You're a child'. But he wasn't. He knew realistic this could never work. The situation they're in now. But if she would just returned back home with him, then they could work.
He looked over at her. Her hands were trembling holding the steering wheel. She was scared. She didn't want to leave him. Angelina was just doing what she thought was best for him. But what was best for him, was her.
Jeremiah leaned over, his hand grazing onto her right hand on the steering wheel. "Baby, hey. I'm not leaving your side no matter how hard you try to push me away. Come back home with me. We'll get through this together," Jeremiah said as his fingers brush over hers softly caressing them hoping to calm down her nerves. He watched as Angelina turned, her eyes locking with his. "If you really don't want me anymore, then I want to hear you say it. Say you don't love me. That all our nights together these past few days meant nothing to you."
Her eyes soften and Jeremiah wanted nothing more then to crash his lips against hers. Angelina's voice cracked, the pain lingering in her voice, "Jeremiah-"
A loud honk and a flash of bright light coming towards them caused both Jeremiah's and Angelina's eyes to widen in surprise.
"Angelina!" Jeremiah screamed. He gripped the steering wheel tightly and steered it left as Angelina tried steering it right. Jeremiah, having more strength, won control of the steering wheel causing the car to go off course onto on-coming traffic.
"Fuck," Jeremiah yelled now realizing if he had let Angelina steer the way she was trying to, they would have avoided being hit.
What felt like several long minutes was only seconds as honks were going off and Jeremiah watched Angelina trying her best to steer the car. "No," Jeremiah barely let out realizing what she was doing.
Before he can do anything, the impact hit Angelina's side of the car with full force and everything went black.
~~~
Jeremiah opened his eyes slowly. He felt slight pressure against his left side abdomen. He looked down realizing the center console was smashed and pushed against his hip. Realization hit him as the panic began, "Angelina.."
They were involved in a car accident, he registered. Jeremiah looked over at himself, barely a few scratches. He turned frantic. Looking over towards the drivers seat, Angelina's head was throw back from the air bag. Blood covering her face as her driver side window was shattered and her side of the door was smashed into her body. Jeremiah can barely make out that her eyes were closed from all the blood and that she wasn't moving. There was so much red. He felt himself almost instantly gag. His body began to shake and his throat tightened. Jeremiah felt his head begin to spin.
He remembered now. Angelina steered the car so the impact would hit her fully saving him. Even though it was his fault the car got steered the wrong way. His eyes began to burn as he felt the tears building up. Jeremiah tried lifting his left arm up to help her- to get to her, but couldn't. He just realized it was stuck in between the center console and his body that was pushed against the passenger side door. He groaned in pain. With his right arm slowly, he tried leaning over, "Angel-"
"Sir-", Jeremiah heard from his side of the door. And suddenly, Jeremiah realized there were a ton of people surrounding Angelina's car and voices were all around them. Paramedics and police officers were crowding both sides of the car. Sirens were echoing throughout the night.
On Jeremiah's side, he heard, "juvenile white male, seems to be conscious now," as the door was thrown open. "Don't move yet, son." Jeremiah let out a gasp of relief as he left arm was now free from being smashed against the center console.
But it was what he heard next that made his heart pound and wash away any relief he was feeling at the moment. "Hurry- get the girl. Yes, young Hispanic female, not responding, possibly not breathing-"
And then, at sound of those words, all went dark again for Jeremiah.
End of chapter notes:
Hello loves! RIP Angelina-
Jk jk. I wouldn't be that cruel. But we are starting off strong. Just wanted to get this chapter out before the new season comes out in a couple days. I'm so excited to see what they do and how I'm going to work out the plot for this one with it.
Hope you enjoyed.
