❝Main Street❞

[Yukina's POV]

'geez... I can't believe that I got accepted here... And here I thought I would apply for a different school...' 

As me, Grim and Fennick were walking through main street I was in deep thought until he disrupted them

"Woah, so this is Main Street, huh? This place is incredible!" Grim exclaimed

"This place is so cool!" Fennick followed suit

"Hm? Oh, yeah... It is isn't" I absent-mindedly replied 'I can't believe this is my life now...' my thoughts then cut short when Grim spoke

"I didn't get to see much of it yesterday. What's the deal with these seven statues? They look pretty scary... Like, this lady over here looks like she's got reeeal anger management issues" I look at which statue Grim was talking about, and it turns out it was the Queen of Hearts statue

"Ah, that's the Queen of Hearts"

"the Queen of Hearts?" Grim asked, curious about her, I nodded my head

"She was the queen who lived in a mazelike garden of roses long ago, the person who prized order above anything else" I stopped there for a moment before someone cut me off

"She wouldn't tolerate a rose being off-color, or her playing-card soldiers being out of step. She basically ruled over a kingdom of madness, yet not one of her subjects dared to defy her" a boy with auburn hair, red eyes and a heart shape mark under his left eye continued for me

"Reason for that is because the punishment for rule-breaking was immediate decapitation" I stated out the punishment the Queen of Hearts embedded 

"Wah! That is seriously messed up!" Grim then jumped over my shoulders to hide

"I mean, who would blame her?" I blankly stated

"Yeah! It's pretty cool too, right? I'm a big fan. I mean, who would bother to obey a queen that was kind all the time?" the ginger stated while looking at me

"Yeah, true... A leader needs to be strong" Grim agreed "But puttin' that aside... Who're you, now?" he then asked the ginger

"Name's Ace. I'm a first year here, as of... today! Pleased to meetcha!" he introduced himself

'why do I sense trouble is brewing...?' I thought to myself then pushed it away

"I'm Grim! I'm a prodigy who's plannin' to be, like, the greatest mage who ever lived" Grim then introduced himself

"Yukina... Yukina Kawasaki, nice to meet you" I blatantly introduced myself without a single thought

"She's my hench-human, she's far less interesting" 

"'Yukina'? Huh. Cute name for a cute girl~" Ace tried to flatter me, but it didn't work

"I'm not anyone's hench-anything..." I said, slightly getting irritated 

"So tell me, Ace. Is that lion with a scar in the eye a famous ruler too?" Grim asked

"Of course! That's the King of Beasts who ruled the savana. But he wasn't born into the throne—he had to earn it through hard work and elaborate schemes. When he became king, he decreed that the hyenas would be pariahs no more, and should live among his subjects as equals" Ace then explained to Grim 

"Sounds like a great guy! Not everyone's able to look past social status like that. Who's the lady with the octopus legs?" Grim asked once again

"Ah, she's the Sea Witch who lived in an underwater grotto. She devoted her life to helping troubled merfolk. She would help them change their appearance, find love, or whatever as long as they were willing to pay the price. They say she was so good, there's not a single wish she couldn't grant. They also said the price was a tad steep, though." I explained the Sea Witch to Grim
