"Yah, Yoo Jeongyeon. Wait for me.", Jihyo, the student council president, called her best friend. Jeongyeon did not bother to look at the other and continued walking. Despite the looks she's getting, Jihyo tries to catch up with her best friend.
"Why are you ignoring me?", Jihyo pouted causing the other to put a disgusted face.
"I'm just trying to save your reputation, Miss Park", Jeongyeon said making Jihyo roll her eyes. She understood why Jeongyeon was concerned, but Jeongyeon was known to cause trouble and struggle with grades. They've been in the same class since 2nd grade, and Jeongyeon has always been a bit of a handful. In contrast, Jihyo has consistently been a top-performing student, always placing in the top 3 and serving as a role model to other students. Despite their vastly different academic achievements, they are still the best of friends, which often confuses others.
Jihyo didn't pay attention to what others said about Jeongyeon. She believed that Jeongyeon was one of the most wonderful people on this planet, and that people needed to get to know her better. As usual, the two girls went to their class together, after Jihyo convinced the other to disregard the opinions of others. During their class, their homeroom teacher, Miss Kim Yubin, entered the room with a new student, and all eyes were fixed on her.
"Good morning class.", Ms. Kim greeted her class, but her students seemed distracted by the girl standing next to her. She cleared her throat and greeted them again, and Jihyo caught on and helped to get her classmates' attention. They then greeted their teacher back.
"I have a few announcements to make, but let's start first with her.", she told them as she looked at the new girl.
"She's a transferee from Savior of Metropolitan Academy(SMA). Do you mind introducing yourself to us?", Ms. Yubin asked the girl.
"Hi, nice to meet you all.", the girl started though many of the students believe she does not mean that base on her tone. "My name is IM NAYEON. 17.", she introduced herself and bow a little.
"Miss Nayeon, do you mind telling us why did you transfer here? I mean this school is one of the best schools in our country, but SMA is the most prestigious of all.", Ms. Yubin asked full of curiosity.
"My family moved houses, so they decided to move me and my sister to a new school. Uhm, for less hassle.", Nayeon answered blankly.
"Okay, that's nice to know. I'm just curious though, are you perhaps related to IM YOONA?", the teacher asked again. Nayeon fights the urge to roll her eyes. Of course, everywhere she goes, the mentioned girl will be brought up. She just wants it to be over.
"She's my older sister.", Nayeon answered shortly. The teacher noticed that the girl is not interested in talking anymore so she wrapped things up.
"Welcome to SEA miss Nayeon. I hope you will enjoy your time here. Now, you may take your seat.", Ms. Yubin looked around to find a vacant seat.
"There go ahead and seat next to Mr. Kim Taehyung. It seems like Park Jimin did not attend the class today.", Nayeon noticed a girl who flinched at the name "Park Jimin" being mentioned. She did not mind it though, not like she cared. She went and sat where she was told only to be greeted by a wide box smile from her seatmate.
"Just an announcement to all of you. Exams start in 10 days so make sure to start studying.", Ms. Kim told her students.
Jeongyeon was not happy as the class began. If Jihyo hadn't seen her earlier, she would have skipped classes. Who enjoys studying Physics at 8 o'clock in the morning? Certainly not Jeongyeon. During the lesson, their Science teacher, Mr. Lee Junho, posed a question. Jeongyeon tried to avoid eye contact, hoping he wouldn't call on her. Just as Jihyo was about to raise her hand to answer, the new girl spoke up and caught the class' attention. Mr. Lee raised his eyebrows in surprise.
"That's a great response. However, if you're in my class, please raise your hand before speaking," he stated firmly. "I prioritize basic manners in my classroom," he added, causing some of the students to feel intimidated by his strict reputation. However, Nayeon remained unfazed by his words, which he took note of.
"You must be new here?", he questioned the girl. The latter just nodded.
"Do you mind standing up and introducing yourself to me, hmm?", Mr. Lee told the girl as he crosses his arms.
"My name is Im Nayeon, sir. 17 years old.", Nayeon introduced herself while looking directly at the teacher in front of the class. Mr. Lee seems interested in her. Nayeon knows what it is about, so she just sighed and accepted her faith.
"Are you related to a celebrity? You remind me of someone.", Mr. Lee asked the girl. Nayeon pressed her lips before answering.
"If I remind you of actress Im Yoona and businesswoman Cheon Se-ah, then you are right sir. My sister and mother.", Nayeon explained to him making the whole class amused. Mr. Lee on the other hand just smiled.
"What a great thing to know, but just because you have a powerful family background doesn't mean you get to have special treatment. You must raise your hands if you want to speak in my class. You may take your seat now.", the teacher said to the girl. She just nod and took a seat.
The class continued with Mr. Lee asking questions and to his surprise, Nayeon kept on answering his questions correctly while she raises her hands before speaking.
Jihyo couldn't help but be intrigued by the new girl. She noticed that Jeongyeon was giving her a look so she asked what's her problem.
"Looks like you got yourself a competition, top student.", is what Jeongyeon told her best friend. The latter just rolled her eyes.
The class has finally ended. It was not as bad as Nayeon thought. Good thing her seatmate wasn't noisy. He was too smiley for Nayeon's liking ,but at least he's not messing with her.
She was about to get out of the classroom when Ms. Kim called her. She looked at her teacher who was smiling at her, so she smiled back. There were two girls beside her teacher.
"Nayeon, this is Jihyo and Jeongyeon, two of your classmates. I figured that you're not yet familiar with the campus, so I asked both of them to give you a tour. Would that be okay?", Ms. Kim explained. Nayeon could just nod her head.
After seeing the response from the girl, Ms. Kim excused herself from the three and went inside their classroom. Jihyo looked at the new girl and smiled. They walk into the hallway starting the tour. There is no denying that the school's exterior and interior are very beautiful, featuring a contemporary style.
"I'm Jihyo and this is my bestfriend Jeongyeon. It's-", Jihyo said before being interrupted by Nayeon, who stated that she already knew who they were. Jeongyeon didn't appreciate the way Nayeon spoke and gave her a stern look, causing Jihyo to quickly nudge her friend's shoulder to ease the tension. The group continued their tour of the school, with Jihyo providing explanations and Jeongyeon following closely behind. However, Nayeon appeared bored and uninterested throughout the entire walkthrough. When the tour ended, Nayeon left without expressing any gratitude or appreciation for their help. Jihyo have remained enthusiastic, but Jeongyeon was put off by Nayeon's unfriendly and cold behavior, leading to a dislike towards her.
