Next morning Gromit turned off his alarm clock and continued laying on his bed. He stared at the ceiling as his thoughts raced in a million different directions. Yet, amongst the chaos, a single realization became crystal clear in his head.

"Oh I've been such a fool. The voices were right, the evil one is me.." he said in a quiet voice. "How could of I let myself self become so selfish, what happened to my manners?" he questioned himself. He looked down at his paws and covered his eyes. "I- I need to make things right again and that's that." he said firmly.

He got out of bed, took off his night cap and walked out of his room. Gromit walked down the stairs and got ready to leave the house. But before stepping out of the house, he paused and turned back, calling out to Wallace.

"Wallace, I won't be able to come with you today. I just have to do something.. Important. I'm sorry, so long." he called out as he closed the door behind him. Gromit sighed and looked up at the cloudy sky. "This.. This is the right thing to do." he said to himself while slowly walking away from his house towards his favourite bar.

Once he finally made it to the bar, he slowly stepped inside and quietly took his seat. "I should just work on myself for a few days." he said to himself. He ordered his tea and thought back on his past actions. He felt ashamed, Wallace was his friend who had done everything for him, and yet he couldn't even stop for a day to truly appreciate it. Well, he technically did stop for a day, but that was besides the point.

In that moment, Gromit's perception shifted as he realized that Wallace wanting him to come along for the festival wasn't solely for his own enjoyment but rather as a fun opportunity for the both of them. Gromit felt guilty as he thought back on some of his responses like "I'm done. I don't want to see you ever again!" or "Well that was awkward. Seems like it wasn't worth coming after all.".

Days passed as Gromit began his routine of going to the bar to work on himself and find ways to better himself or fix his actions from all those previous days. One night, before heading to sleep, Gromit got a feeling. "Yes, tomorrow is the day. Tomorrow I'm ready to make things right." he thought. He yawned and fell asleep, feeling confident about tomorrow.

Next morning, Gromit quickly got out of his bed and calmly made his way to the kitchen. Once he stepped inside the kitchen he put on his sunniest smile. "Hey Wallace! Aren't we excited to be going to the cheese festival together!" he said in an optimistic voice. Wallace smiled in surprise, litting up his entire face. "Ooh I knew you wouldn't forget, lad!" said Wallace. "Sure wouldn't.." whispered Gromit to himself.

Once Gromit was done with his tea, he and Wallace were ready to leave the house. This time when Wallace offered him a cheese hat, Gromit gladly accepted the offer and immediately put the hat on his head. Gromit saluted like a soldier as Wallace giggled at his little joke. "It fits you perfectly, Chuck! Now, let's hurry down these stairs." said Wallace as both of them walked towards their destination.

When they got there, everyone got excited to see what cheese would be the cheese of the year. When the cheese fell on the left side, as per usual Wallace was saddened. Gromit could see this and truly felt bad for him. "Aww please don't be sad Wallace, I'm sure Wensleydale will win next year. Come on, lets just continue having fun!" said Gromit in a comforting voice. "Thank you, lad. I'm glad you got my back." said Wallace as he soon forgot to be sad and continued having fun.

After the festival was done they continued to have fun elsewhere. It was truly an amazing sight, they hadn't gotten along this well in a long time. The day flew by just like that, and Gromit found himself getting ready to head back to his room. However, before doing so, he glanced at Wallace and took a deep breath. "Wallace, I just wanted to thank you for being such a supportive friend, and I'm really sorry about how I've been acting recently." said Gromit quietly. "Oh it's nothing, lad! I'm very glad to have you as my best friend, and I couldn't have asked for a better pal." responded Wallace. "Thank you Wallace, good night." said Gromit as he slowly walked out of the room. "Good night Gromit, sleep well!" responded Wallace as Gromit gently closed the door.

Before going to sleep, Gromit decided to climb up to the roof. He slowly made his way up and sat on the very top. He glanced up at all the magical stars out in the night sky. The sight was truly breathtaking, capturing a moment of awe within his very soul. All the beautiful stars shined down on him. Gromit felt like the stars were forming the shape of his head. Gromit didn't know if he was imagining things, but he was completely hypnotized by the beauty. Suddenly, nostalgia hit him. He remembered that he and Wallace would often lie outside on the grass deep in the night, gazing at stars. They would count them together until Gromit would fall asleep and Wallace would carry him back to bed. It was back when he was just a little puppy. "How could I forget about that." he thought. "The child within is still calling out." he whispered to himself. Gromit felt like all the sparkling stars had washed him with love, and that they were reassuring him that everything was going to be alright.
