Turning around, moving myself on the small couch, I heard a door. I quickly sat up trying to find my phone in a panic. I just looked at the clock at 6:30. Sliding my thumb across the side of my lips now realizing I drooled a bit.
"Shit, shit!" I was supposed to wake up at 6:00 so I could go to the gym and use they're shower and come back. I took my backpack and moved fast.
I changed in the bathroom splashing water on my face as fast as I could. Changing in the stall into a white button down and work pants.
Grabbing the deodorant from the small pocket in the front of the bag and wiping some on my armpits and cologne on the sides of my neck and patting it a bit. If I can't take a shower, the least I can do is try and smell decent. I looked in the mirror and slid the tips of my fingers through my thick hair trying to fix it to make it look presentable. Letting some of it fall to the sides, and a piece aggravating me that always falls in front of my face.
I picked up my backpack from under the sink and went back to my office.
I threw myself on the chair and it turned around from me not realizing it was those types of chairs, I pulled myself into my desk and stared at the computer acting like I've been here for a while. Looking around my desk. And finding my phone on the corner plugged into the charger I bought in the airport on the way here. Turning it around and pressing my finger on the power button. 6:55 right on time the office opens at 7:00.
I looked through my emails I hadn't had a chance to look at last night. I had just gotten off my flight and didn't have a place to stay so I used my badge to get in and slept here.
Until I find an apartment in California, I've just decided to sleep in my office. Scrolling through my emails, I saw a company email from yesterday. Saying there was a meeting today. I was about to read the rest until there was a knock on my door. Changing my focus on the women at the door.
"Hey, I heard that there was someone new and I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Hayley."
She stepped forward towards my desk. And I couldn't get any words out of her messy wavy hair and her light green eyes. I knew her. She worked here?
"Oh yeah sorry I wasn't expecting anyone, I'm Lucas the new guy around here I guess."
Pushing my chair back a bit and standing up. Bringing my hand out to meet her palm grasping my fingers around her hand and slightly moving it I couldn't stop staring at her. It was really her; she's so grown up I haven't seen her since middle school when we were both in our awkward faze, but she's definitely not anymore, she's a grown woman.
She's Hayley, my Hayley.
Well, I guess she technically isn't mine. But she used to be.
I didn't know what to say. Would she remember me? Would it be weird to bring it up? Was it really her?
I realized that I had zoned out when he realized her hand from my palm and without thinking I lowered my gaze to her blouse. I hovered over her so when I looked down at her I could see the top of her breast. My mind shifted; I wonder what color bra she's wearing? Snap out of it Lucas! I didn't want to look like I was creepy if she didn't recognize me, and she thought we had just met. I fixed my gaze toward her light green eyes. I could recognize those eyes from a mile away.
"Are you coming to the meeting? I could show you where to go."
She said in a soft voice tilting her head a bit up so that she could look at me. The sides of my lips tilted up into a slight smile. I didn't want her to know how happy she made me to see her again. I nodded my head to focus on how she's here.
Does she not recognize me?
I let her lead the way to show me where it was. Her wavy hair falling off her shoulders and her pushing her hair to the back leading my gaze from her shoulders to her back then to her ass and how good those pants hugged her curves. She looked back at me and I'm pretty sure she caught me staring and I lifted my eyes to meet hers and gave her a quick smile. When she looked away my smile fell off my face.
Why would you do that? She thinks you're a creep now.
Pulling in the bottom of my lip and slightly biting down my lip into my mouth lost in thought about her.
There's so much I want to say to her. I can't keep my eyes off her, she's so perfect, with her wavy hair framing her face perfectly, light sparkly green eyes, strong jawline, and her pink plump lips. Losing myself in my thoughts about what she tasted like and what did her lips taste like? The thing that kept circling in my head was that she had to be mine.
All mine.
I needed to know what her lips tasted like. I noticed she had paused in front of a door and was waiting for me to come in.
"We're here"
Picking up her gaze from the floor and bringing it up my body from my shoes to my legs, then to my muscles, stopping her gaze there for a second. After a second of her being mesmerized from my arms, she lifted her eyes to meet mine.
I took the seat opposite from her. I wanted to be able to see her without making it obvious.
I didn't want her to know from the way I looked at her how much I wanted to taste her, how much I wanted to know what color bra she's wearing, and how I think everything about her is so perfect.
I know how perfect she is. In all of the ten minutes I have seen her, for the first time in years.
How I want it to get up and go around this table pulling her from her seat and holding her in arms and to never let her go again. To tell her how sorry I am for leaving.
I made that mistake when my mom moved us from California to Boston. When I lost her, when I lost my girl. With no say, I was a child. I couldn't control it but I'm not a child anymore and I never want to lose her again. I can't lose her again. Not when I'm so close to her again.
