My heartbeat raced while I walked up the stairs of her apartment building. Trying to get it through my mind how I am about to go into the apartment of Hayley Moore. My childhood best friend. My first love. So many emotions are going through my head, crashing into each other.
The nerves running through my body. I'm about to spend the night in the same apartment as her. With the anger still in me thinking about how that guy treated her. I wish I could have protected her from him sooner. Thinking about how he hurt my girl makes my breathing rush and an anger I have never felt before coming so quickly in my body. But I'm here now, I'll protect her with everything I have, all of my heart. Always and forever.
With that thought I heard my name getting called, pulling me out of my head. It was Hayley asking me if I was coming.
I walked into the apartment looking around at the black couch and coffee table in the living room, and the big window with the nice view. A small kitchen then noticing there is only one room. Taking in a breath through my nose I turned to face her.
"There's only one room." Tucking in my lips a bit into my mouth, waiting for an answer. "I'll take the couch." I said looking at her while I saw a shift in her face.
"You can take the bed, I'll sleep on the couch Lucas, it's really no problem.'' Hayley said in a tired soft voice looking back into my eyes.
"I wouldn't be a gentleman if I let you sleep on the couch, now would I be sweetheart?"
Taking a couple steps closer to her. Making my heart run laps around my chest. Tilting my head to the side giving her a small smirk that made her cheeks turn a soft pink. Forming a small smile on her beautiful face. Oh, how much I would love to wake up to that face every day. I gave her a quick wink.
"Fine." Hayley said, tilting her head a bit to look up at me rolling her eyes at me while giving me her soft smile.
Waking up frantically to the sound of a crash. Something fell on the floor. Taking the phone from under me, seeing it was two a.m.
I sighed and laid my head back down onto my pillow. Hearing soft whimpers from the room and movement, I got up slowly. Coming to the door of Hayley's bedroom. "Hayley?" I said in a whisper.
No reply.
Pushing the door with my palm a bit, I saw Hayley moving in her bed frantically, but she was still asleep. Walking a bit closer to her I put my hand on her arm trying to move her a bit.
"Hayley," I said, trying to wake her up. I could feel the sweat on her. I heard her whimper again and she sounded scared. Her moving again and whispering so low you could barely hear.
"It hurts"
Sending the goosebumps through my skin. Noticing she was having a nightmare.
Pushing the blanket and climbing into the bed. Shaking her repeatedly until I saw her eyes open. Holding her into my arms close to my chest. Wrapping my arm around her, having my palm on the side of her head, holding her close to me. Feeling her heavy breath on me, and the sweat on her body I could care less.
She started to cry trying to make out words I couldn't understand.
"It was him," she said, letting a breath out on my chest. Quivering into my arms I felt the tears soak through my shirt.
"He hurt me, Lucas."
Sending my mind into a spiral. I never wanted to kill a person until that moment right there. How dare he. How dare he hurt my girl. But she needed me right now. Rocking her softly. Making sure she was comfortable.
