Chrollo chuckled lightly. He was standing there, at the harbor of Padokea, ready to see his plan unfold after weeks of preparation. Because that was what it took to defeat Hisoka Morrow. A lot of preparation. It had taken him so much planning in the Heavens Arena already but this was different. The magician came back way stronger than prior. Too strong. And the fight hadn't left the spider unharmed. He could feel his fractured rips and the bruises lingering on his torso.

It was painful and more of a disadvantage than anything but this couldn't wait. Hisoka had killed two of his member already and he wouldn't stop until he got every single one of them with Chrollo himself being the last.

But with the chain user in, the chances of Chrollo succeeding nearly doubled and their relationship or whatever one would call it was decent. Not decent in a sense where Kurapika wouldn't want to kill Chrollo. But in a sense that both of them needed something from the other. The Kurta would follow through with this, because he wanted those eyes desperately and Chrollo knew that. He could trust in Kurapikas determination and Kurapika could trust in his. Thinking about it like that, it was a good base for decent teamwork.

Though he couldn't predict how violent the Kurta would be with him because at that, the blonde for sure was unhinged.

That was also why the spider worried about his new partners acting skills. Lack of control could result in temper outbursts, thus ruining their reputation as a married couple. But that would be on him. He had chosen the hardest role to play for Kurapika after all.

Chrollo felt uneasy thinking about possible complications.

Just get done with it.

The man thought, now wondering if Kurapika shared a similar mindset. He must be, even though his mindset originated from an entirely different reason.

Oh Kurapika. The moment Chrollo had found this to be the chain users name, so the moment he had called him, he started saying it out loud to himself. He had said it numerous times, in the spider hideout, in his own small apartment. But no matter how often those letters rolled off his tongue, it always felt special. Forbidden, even.

His name was pretty, Chrollo thought. He actually quite liked it, it did Kurapikas beauty justice. But when he said it, he could feel his own underlying resentment. So weak, it would never be able to compare to the resentment he was feeling for the magician. Of course Chrollo was not capable of feeling sympathy or guilt towards his new partner but it wasn't hatred either. Something strange in between. I mixture of acceptance and maybe a slight bit of attraction because without a doubt, Kurapika had a really pretty face and really pretty eyes. Nothing more than that, nothing strong. Chrollo wasn't prone to strong emotions, all the temperament Kurapika offered within a time span of five minutes might have been all the temperament he had shown within a time span of 28 years.

Chrollo felt numb for most of his life. He had started feeling numb some time as a child, though he couldn't pinpoint the exact moment. He knew human well, he knew mimics well and that was all he needed to come across as gentle spoken husband or ruthless murderer and leader. If you possessed the basics, you would find yourself able to take any form and any personality. And Chrollo had taken the, in the moment needed, personality so often, somewhere along the line he had lost his own.

If there ever was one.

The autumn breeze was cold. Colder than usual for it not being winter yet. Even with his suit on, Chrollo could feel the cold on his skin. Not in a way that it was uncomfortable or bothering the black haired, However, if someone wore a dress...

Chrollo tried to put that thought aside. Of course the Kurta would wear a dress, it was only natural in the kind of environment they would live in for some weeks (did he tell Kurapika it would be weeks???) And he would definitely find a solution to avoid freezing even with low temperatures. The spider made a mental note, not to underestimate his partner. He had praised the man for his intellect at the church already and Chrollo had meant it.
